Nduka Ugbade made his debut with CD Castellón in the 1989/90 season which paved the way for future Nigerian talents in Spanish football. Wilfred Agbonavbare became the second player having joined Rayo Vallecano (1990â1996), featuring across three La Liga seasons.
Mutiu Adepoju, often celebrated as the first Nigerian to make a lasting mark in top-flight Spanish football, especially due to his extensive career with Racing Santander and Real Sociedad. However, he was actually the third Nigerian in La Liga after Ugbade and Agbonavbare.
