Seven months ago, Adekunle Gold released his sixth studio album, “Fuji“, giving us hits like “Many People“, “Don Corleone“, “Bobo“, and “Coco Money“, and now, he has done something even extra with the release of “Fuji Xtra“.

This deluxe edition, arriving today, 8th May 2026, expands the original 15-track body of work with five new songs, including “Formation” with Olamide and “Blue Fire” featuring Simi. These additions are part of a broader, more personal chapter for the artist, who describes this season as one where his long-held dreams have finally become his reality.

In a newsletter shared with fans today, the singer explained that while these professional wins have been public, the most significant change has happened at home as he is now a father of two. “I’m now a father of two,” he shared, describing the “overwhelming tenderness” of welcoming his son. “Sometimes I’m holding him and looking at his sister and I genuinely lose track of everything else for a moment. The noise disappears. The pressure disappears. The world slows down.”

The “Fuji Xtra” era also coincides with his upcoming orchestra shows across North America, a concept he has developed over several years. He noted, “I remember 7 years ago before I released Afro Pop, I sat in Asa’s living room discussing the idea that I wanted to perform with an orchestra someday. I wanted to hear my songs differently with an orchestra.”

In the world of Afrobeats, few stories are as poignant as the rise of the YBNL dynasty. This week, Adekunle Gold took us down memory lane while looking toward the future, announcing a new single with his mentor and former label boss, Olamide.

Can we talk about the fashion for a second? The pair went full 70s-chic in a garage filled with vintage hubcaps and golden lighting. AG Baby gave us sophisticated “Boss” energy in an oversized brown blazer, while Olamide served a major look in mustard yellow and flared trousers. The car is a classic Mercedes with a custom “YBNL” plate. It’s giving “Rich Uncles,” and we are here for it.

But it’s not all just about the aesthetic. Adekunle Gold got real with his fans about how much Olamide means to him. He shared that back in 2014, Olamide was the one who gave him his big break, taking him from a dreamer in Lagos to a global star. If you remember singing “Sade” at the top of your lungs back in 2015, you know how huge this is.

The new track is called “Formation” (no, not that one, Beyoncé fans!) and it arrives on 9 April. Gold says it’s all about “legacy and brotherhood.” Honestly we just can’t wait to see what these two have cooked up. Mark your calendars, because the kings of YBNL are back together

Barack Obama has shared his favourite songs of 2025, with Nigerian music once again making a strong appearance. The former US President’s annual playlists have grown into a cultural moment over the years, and this time, Burna Boy and Olamide are holding it down for Nigeria.

Obama shared the list on social media, explaining that he was continuing a tradition he started during his time in the White House — rounding up the music, books and films he enjoyed throughout the year and sharing them publicly.

Burna Boy appears on the list with “TaTaTa,” his collaboration with Travis Scott. Released in May, the track is one of the singles from his eighth studio album, “No Sign of Weakness.”

Olamide also earns a spot with “99,” a record featuring Asake, Seyi Vibez, Young Jonn and British singer Daecolm. The song’s placement highlights Olamide’s ability to pull together multiple voices while still keeping the record grounded in the sound he’s known for.

London-based Nigerian artist Obongjayar appears on the list as well, with his song “Not In Surrender”, adding another Nigerian voice to the former president’s selections this year.

Beyond the Nigerian picks, the playlist includes songs by Lady Gaga, Olivia Dean, Rosalía, Kendrick Lamar, SZA and Drake. Last year, Obama’s 2024 playlist also featured Nigerian artists, including Rema with “Yayo” and Asake’s collaboration with Travis Scott, “Active.”

As 2025 comes to a close, I’m continuing a tradition that I started during my time in the White House: sharing my annual lists of favorite books, movies, and music. I hope you find something new to enjoy—and please send any recommendations for me to check out! pic.twitter.com/T9LFt5fnKG

And yes, Wizkid and Seyi Vibez make not one, but two appearances each. Oh, and there’s a track that samples Lauryn Hill’s iconic “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.” Talk about a throwback with a twist.

The album is officially here, and it’s called “Olamide.” With 17 tracks, it takes us through his journey, from hustle to highs, and reminds us why he’s been in the game this long. Songs like “Kai” and “99” already had us hyped, but now there’s even more to dance to, vibe with, and reflect on.

Go on, press play. You’re going to want this on repeat.

Did someone say Olamide is dropping a new album soon? Because if that’s true, we’re absolutely thrilled, and it turns out, it is.

The music superstar is set to release his latest album on Thursday, 19th June, and the excitement is already building. Even better, he’s shared some updates ahead of the big day. First things first, the album is packed with 17 tracks in total. Now that’s a full feast.

Even more exciting is the lineup of collaborations. Afrobeats superstar Wizkid features on not one, but two tracks: “Kai” and “Billionaires Club.” Street-hop star Seyi Vibez also pulls double duty, appearing alongside Muyeez on “Free,” and again on “99,” an all-star anthem that brings together Young Jonn, Asake and Daecolm.

This new release marks Olamide’s 11th studio album, following “Unruly,” which dropped in August 2023. And guess what? It’s a self-titled album, simply “Olamide

So what do we say now? Keep your ears to the ground. “Olamide” is coming.

When was the last time you heard Olamide and Wizkid on a track together? It’s been a minute, right? Since songs like ‘Totori‘ and ‘For Example’ (remember that Kayswitch feature?), the duo has been quiet on the collab front. But they’re back, and they’ve brought the heat with a new track titled ‘Kai!’

‘Kai!’ is a feel-good, dance-ready tune packed with swagger, nightlife buzz, and cheeky flirtation. It’s all about enjoying the moment, living large, and being completely taken by a woman who has you at a loss for words — all you can say is ‘Kai!’

The lyrics set the mood for a late night out: admiring a confident beauty, moving to the rhythm, and soaking in the high life without stress. It’s playful, stylish, and smooth, with both Olamide and Wizkid showing off their usual charm.

The video, directed by Jyde Ajala, keeps things cool and unfussy. The artists groove to the music while dancers fill the space behind them. No fuss, just good vibes and rhythm.

Long before ‘Peru‘ took over airwaves, Fireboy DML was just a recent graduate chasing a dream in Lagos, with no connections, no clear plan, and no guarantees. He was writing songs to survive, performing to unrecognised crowds, and keeping his struggles quiet from his family.

Then came a message from Olamide. Out of the blue. A WhatsApp DM that would change everything. Fireboy shares on the 90s Baby Show. According to him, Olamide wasn’t even looking to sign anyone at the time, but after hearing Fireboy’s sound, he reached out via WhatsApp, and just like that, Fireboy became part of the YBNL family. A real “sliding into your destiny” moment.

That belief led to a record deal with YBNL and, eventually, his breakout track ‘Jealous,’ which first appeared on the YBNL Mafia Family compilation in 2018. It was the beginning of a new chapter. One that would bring ‘Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps,’ sold-out shows, international tours, and features with global superstars.

But fame comes with its own surprises. Like the rumour that he’d bought a private jet, something even his mother believed. He laughed it off and clarified that it wasn’t true, noting how fame sometimes comes with unexpected and amusing headlines.

Now, with his latest album ‘Adedamola,’ Fireboy is reflecting deeper—on growth, purpose, and the kind of stories he wants to tell next.

Fireboy calls his sound Afro-Life: a fusion of Afrobeats, R&B, and soul, shaped by emotion and storytelling.

Watch the full interview below. But be warned: it might just inspire you to keep chasing your own dream, no matter how uncertain it seems.
