Dangbei Introduces the 'N2 mini' Portable Projector

Dangbei has been making waves in the projector space for a while now, having launched the world's first officially Netflix-licensed 4K laser projector last year. More recently, the brand introduced the Dangbei N2 mini – a portable projector that sits on the opposite end of the spectrum from its flagship Mars Pro 2, both in terms of size and price – adding an accessibly priced yet feature-rich option to its growing lineup.

The Dangbei N2 mini is one of the brand's smallest projectors, weighing just under 3.8 pounds and standing about 9.5-inches tall. Yet despite its compact size, it packs a surprising amount of features and functionality, including Dangbei's proprietary, AI-powered InstanPro technology – the same that's found in its larger and more expensive models.

Unlike Dangbei’s other models, though, the N2 Mini runs on a Linux-based smart operating system rather than Google’s Android TV. One likely reason for this is to avoid Google’s costly licensing fees – a decision presumably to help keep the projector’s price accessible. It’s worth noting, however, that this doesn’t come at the expense of features or functionality. Despite its simple interface, the Linux-based operating system (OS) is both easy to use and visually appealing, and it comes preloaded with officially licensed apps including Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube. These apps can also be launched with a single click, thanks to dedicated buttons on the projector’s remote, and Dangbei says there are over 300 additional apps available to download onto the device – though, naturally, these don't have their own dedicated buttons on the remote.

The main body of the N2 mini – the actual projector – sits on a stand that doubles up as a gimbal and offer users 190° of built-in tilt options – including ceiling projection. Simplicity is a recurring theme with the N2 and the gimbal is operated by gently pushing in the preferred direction; there's no locking mechanism, it it simply holds itself in place.

The Dangbei N2 mini projects native 1080p visuals in sizes between 40 and 120-inches, and features 200 lumens of maximum brightness. While this doesn't sound very bright on paper, it performs surprisingly well in daylight and excels in smaller rooms with lower light – think evenings and spaces with drawn curtains. Additionally, the included InstanPro technology means the mini will automatically resize and straighten the image to give you the best view possible, while offering automatic focusing and keystone correction.

Connectivity options include both Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6, with input ports consisting of one HDMI and one USB-A 2.0. There's also a 3.5mm audio output, allowing users to connect headphones or wired speakers if the built-in six-watt speakers don't cut it. Perhaps surprisingly, given its modest audio hardware, the N2 supports Dolby Audio, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus.

The Dangbei N2 mini is available now via the brand's website and select retailers priced at £199 GBP / $229 USD / €279 EUR.

Summary

  • BENTGABLENITS and Teenage Engineering reveal the BGN–11, featuring 10 handcrafted speakers housed in reimagined 1930s dollhouses
  • The collab will launch on June 27 with an immersive NYC installation, where collectible designs and artist-inspired pieces will also be available

BENTGABLENITS and Teenage Engineering are partnering up to unveil the first chapter of their limited collaboration: the BGN–11. Limited to 10 unique editions, these handcrafted speakers are built from reimagined 1930s metal dollhouses, offering a fascinating blend of vintage aesthetics and modern audio engineering. Each edition features a fully functional OD-11 speaker, carefully housed within a unique structure that has been meticulously stitched, wired and weathered by hand. This intricate process transforms nostalgic objects into functional works of art, bridging the past and present through sound.

This limited release is more than a fusion of audio and design—it's a physical meditation on nostalgia and storytelling. BENTGABLENITS founders Brenda Bent, Karen Gable and Angelo Nitsopoulos describe the project as a dialogue between the tactile soul of handcraft and the futuristic minimalism of Teenage Engineering’s technology. “We thought the speaker related to home,” Gable reflects, “and home is something that we could deal with. It became about developing a home.”

Rooted in the founders’ lifelong practice of collecting and reinterpreting overlooked objects, the BGN–11 exemplifies a shared ethos between both brands: reverence for the past and innovation in the present. Though divergent in aesthetics - one grounded in antique textures, the other in sleek modernism - the two brands converge through a mutual dedication to craft and narrative. “We find beauty in things that might sound obscure,” says Nitsopoulos. “It’s this ongoing dialogue between past and present, and also memory and reinvention.”

The BGN–11 will launch on June 27 via a special website. This is accompanied by an immersive three-day installation at 131 Greene Street, New York City. The installation will also showcase hand-beaded vintage artist and musician T-shirts, along with other Teenage Engineering collectible editions — inviting visitors to fully engage with this unique fusion of art, sound and nostalgia.

From Grails to Glucose, Oura’s Smart Ring Turns Health Into the New Drop

13 juin 2025 à 19:49

Oura, the health tech company behind the minimalist smart ring (and yes, the same one that teamed up with Gucci for a luxe limited-edition drop), brought together a crowd of culturally attuned guests in NYC to have a conversation many still avoid: the uncomfortable reality of men’s health—and what the future might look like when wellness becomes as personal as your sneaker rotation. And while the ring itself might be discreet, the cultural shift it represents is anything but.

It starts with a wake-up call: men are living, on average, 5.4 years fewer than women. They’re also facing higher rates of chronic illness, sleep disorders, and mental health challenges. The crisis isn’t new—but the response is. For years, toxic norms told men to "walk it off." Now, they’re asking different questions: Am I doing enough to maintain my health? Will I be healthy enough to enjoy the future I’m building?

Oura Smart Ring Men's Health Focus and Future

Oura’s approach reframes the answer. It's not about reacting when things go wrong. It's about tuning into the body early, learning its signals, and acting before issues escalate. “Men are increasingly taking ownership of their health—not just reacting to illness, but working to optimize how they feel, perform, and age,” the brand points out.

That kind of framing hits different for an audience raised on performance—from the gym to the creative office. Oura's real innovation isn’t just wearable tech. It's translating hard data into daily insights—like how last night’s sleep might impact today’s focus, or whether your body’s truly recovered from yesterday’s push.

Using over 20 biometric signals, the ring delivers a Readiness Score, guiding wearers on when to go hard and when to step back. For the Hypebeast reader balancing the pace of grail hunts, sneaker meetups and queueing in drop lines weekly, all while trying to maintain a healthy routine, it’s the kind of intel that matters more than just steps or streaks.

Oura Smart Ring Men's Health Focus and Future

But the company isn’t stopping at sleep and recovery. Metabolic health is the next frontier—and it’s one that desperately needs attention. “88% of U.S. adults are metabolically unhealthy, with men disproportionately affected,” Oura also notes. Instead of focusing on calories or restrictive routines, Oura’s system encourages balance through behavior tracking, glucose insights, and non-judgmental guidance. With the help of Stelo—a sleek, over-the-counter glucose sensor developed in partnership with Dexcom—users get real-time feedback on how food, stress, and even workout timing impact energy and insulin sensitivity. It’s less about restriction, more about rhythm. Less punishment, more pattern recognition.

What makes Oura’s approach resonate is its respect for individuality. Early adulthood? The ring tracks movement, energy, and sleep. Midlife? It leans into stress, metabolism, and glucose trends. Later life? Long-term heart health and cardiovascular aging take center stage.

“Health isn’t one-size-fits-all—and it doesn’t stand still,” the brand explains. That message lands particularly well in a world where personalization drives everything from playlists to probiotics. And with optional integrations—like syncing with an Apple Watch or logging meals with a quick photo—Oura fits into your life without taking it over. No buzz, no feed, no follower count. Just feedback.

Oura Smart Ring Men's Health Focus and Future

Ultimately, what Oura is selling isn’t just health data—it’s agency. A chance to be proactive rather than reactive. A future where you know what’s happening inside your body the same way you know what’s trending next week. It’s wellness, but in a tailored silhouette. A smart ring, yes—but also a cultural nudge toward redefining strength, ambition, and longevity.

As the brand puts it plainly: “The future of health is proactive, personal, and human.” And for the men who once measured success in grails and gallery invites, there may be no flex more valuable than feeling good for the long run.

Summary

  • Google's iconic "G" logo receives a slight update with adjusted curves and proportions for a cleaner, more modern feel
  • This marks the first logo update in nearly a decade
  • The signature blue, red, yellow, and green color scheme remains consistent

Google, the ubiquitous gateway to information, is subtly refreshing its iconic "G" logo, ushering in a new era for the world's most recognized initial.

While the core four-color palette – blue, red, yellow, and green – remains instantly familiar, the update introduces a refined approach to the letterform itself. Expect to see a "G" that feels a touch more open, perhaps with slightly adjusted curves and proportions, contributing to a cleaner and more contemporary feel across devices. This evolution isn't a radical departure, but rather a thoughtful iteration, ensuring the logo remains both recognizable and optimized for the diverse range of screens and contexts where it lives.

This subtle yet significant update reflects Google's ongoing commitment to innovation and user experience. By refining its core visual identity, Google aims to create a logo that feels both timeless and forward-looking, embodying the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of the platform itself. It's a visual whisper, a gentle nudge towards the future of search and information access, all within the comforting embrace of the familiar Google colors. As reported by 9to5Google, the last time Google had a major change to its logo was in September 2015 when it updated its font to Sans-Serif. Now nearly a decade later, the new "G" logo appears without distinct borders between the colors, instead blending into one another. The update is currently visible on Pixel phones and slowly rolling out the change

With the arrival of the Magic Note Pad, XPPen introduces yet another tool for academics, working professionals and artists to enhance their creative ecosystems and maximize their professional workflows. Combining an X-Paper display with the advanced X3 Pro Pencil 2 stylus, a custom-designed note-taking app and an open Android ecosystem, the world’s first 3-in-1 Color Note Pad offers an unparalleled digital writing experience that redefines modern work practices.

Engineered with 16.7 million colors and an advanced 90Hz refresh rate, XPPen's cutting-edge 3-in-1 X-Paper display delivers exceptional fluidity, brilliant saturation and clarity and ultra-smooth motion through three unique color modes (Ink Paper, Light Color and Nature Color Mode). The upgraded X3 Pro Pencil 2 offers 16K pressure levels, customizable shortcuts and responsive EMR technology. Engineered for the paper-like writing experience, the X3 Pro Pencil 2 features a refined soft nib design that glides effortlessly across the display. When used in tandem with the XPPen Notes APP, users benefit from an incredibly smooth, immersive writing experience that transcends the ordinary.

Since its grand debut in March, the Magic Note Pad has garnered a reputation for its practical utility across industries, serving as a logistical tool for educational and professional work environments. XPPen tapped London-based writer and author Vicky Zimmerman — known for the best-selling novel, Pear Shaped (written under the pseudonym Stella Newman), and her body of journalism and reporting across prestigious publications such as The Guardian, The Observer, Arena Homme Plus, POP Magazine and more — to talk about the intricacies of her writing practice. Jackson Ng, Senior Barrister and Partner at a global law firm, also met up with the brand to speak about his experience elevating his work with modern productivity tools that help manage and consolidate his daily tasks as a consultant with a focus on civil and commercial litigation.

In the conversation below, the duo discuss how they manage hectic work output, prioritizing efficiency and an uninterrupted flow state with the Magic Note Pad.

XPPen: How would you describe yourself?

Vicky Zimmerman: I'm Vicky Zimmerman and I am a writer. I also write under the name of Stella Newman. I've had five novels published. My first one was ten years ago. It was a bestseller called Pear Shaped. My work has been translated into eight different languages and been published all over the world. I always wanted to be a writer, but my family thought I should have a proper job. So I did lots of jobs before I became a writer.

My books are about relationships, so I think they should appeal to men and women equally. But I think the way that fiction is marketed is often certain colored books for girls. So pink books for girls and blue books for boys. And I think that's an unfortunate side product of marketing. But my books are to be enjoyed by anyone and everyone.

Jackson Ng: My name is Jackson. I'm a barrister and I'm also a local councillor with a local government. Personally, I'm very very committed to justice and advocacy. I always want to use my legal and political platforms and skills to uplift people, to change people's lives. My father served in the public sector in Singapore. My mother was an Indonesian Chinese refugee. Both of them shaped my understanding of what public service meant. I was helping make legal decisions and legal strategy about how to help individuals and companies.

And I've come to realize in British society, there tends to be a lack of understanding of British Chinese communities, Chinese communities and business environment, and that sparked my transition into politics. I think to really affect change, I need to bring our British Chinese point of view into government.

XPPen: How do you capture and organize ideas when inspiration strikes?

Vicky: As a novelist, you go through many stages in what you want to write, whether that's a mind map at the start of a project, or if you have an idea in the middle of a commute and you are desperate to get it down, or if you want to write longhand in a more thoughtful way.

It's so easy nowadays to type. When I type, I can write a lot of words very quickly, but actually I get the best ideas and the best writing when I am using a pen because I think it takes that extra time to go from your brain through your hand, and it makes you a little more thoughtful. So as much as I would like to rush it, the work is better when I write it down.

XPPen Magic Note Pad X3 Pro Pencil 2 Tablet XPPen Magic Note Pad X3 Pro Pencil 2 Tablet

XPPen: For your particular work flow, how do you maintain efficiency in such demanding roles?

Jackson: The real key point here I think when you're balancing many balls in the air, you need to be very organized. So I rely on productivity tools like daily checklists and notes to have my [brainstorms] synced onto the cloud. The information that I put onto my tablet is then synced onto my wanted platform, allowing me to manage responsibilities when I'm traveling between the office and the court where I'm a politician or even doing international travel.

For example, I could be knocking on hundreds of doors, talking to each resident about what's happening within a certain neighborhood that requires me to walk long distances and work outdoors. So, I wouldn't want to carry too much stuff around. But having a tablet that allows me to read in itself outdoors allows me to work quite quickly. I bring it along just to knock down house No. 5 — what do they think about the local school, what do they think about local road repairs. It's ultimately synced onto a cloud, where my political assistance can access this note almost on a real time basis. That's very helpful for me.

XPPen: Having used the Magic Note Pad in your day-to-day workflows, what features are you most impressed by?

Vicky: The Magic Note Pad, you can do any one of those things. I really love the pencil. It's got a very soft nib, so it feels completely natural. Whether you're doing a thick stroke or a very defined line, it's just a completely pleasurable experience, really natural, really easy, and you can rub it out. The screen feels just like paper. With the pen and the screen combined, it's just like writing with ink on a piece of paper.

The Magic Note Pad uses the Google ecosystem so with one click, you can download whatever apps you want — whether that's for fun or for work, it's seamless. The three color mode and the ease you can switch between those modes.

The Nature Color Mode is great for watching entertainment, and then, if I want to read, Light Color Mode is much more gentle to just relax with. And then when I'm writing, I really like the e-ink mode because it's very crisp and sharp and nice to use.

One really cool thing is that it's got this one click function on the pen. So if you have a great idea and you want to jot it down quickly, you press this little button on the pen, touch the screen, and you're straight into notes. It's really good thinking.

XPPen Magic Note Pad X3 Pro Pencil 2 Tablet XPPen Magic Note Pad X3 Pro Pencil 2 Tablet XPPen Magic Note Pad X3 Pro Pencil 2 Tablet

I have a very active brain. I imagine all humans do. I can only speak for myself, but if I don't write something down, it gets lost. I think it's key to write things down quickly, and it really helps me stay organized. In terms of productivity. I love this product because everything is in one place. I can just put one thing in my bag. I don't need notepads and separate books. It's all there and I can capture all my ideas. Particularly when I'm traveling, it's just amazing portability and it's very streamlined, writing things down and taking them off. Personally I just find it very satisfying: start small, write things down into manageable chunks and stay off your mobile phone.

Jackson: I'm actually quite old, so actually I grew up using a pen and a fountain pen and a pencil to take notes, and even to university in the early parts of my career. It was very much handwriting stuff. So I really like this tablet because the realistic paper-like approach allows me to write quite naturally along with this great pen. It's great for reading long sessions of legal documents or political documents without causing eyestrain. In fast-paced environments, like doing court hearings, it's able to jot down stuff quite quickly without worrying about running out of paper.

It then allows me to basically cross reference it quite easily by search or conversion into text. I think this blend of traditional writing and intelligent technology helps me be efficient. 3-in-1 color modes adapt to diverse scenarios. You have the natural color mode, which is very bright, vivid, true-to-color for multimedia, and then there is the light color mode, which is gentle, a low saturation display for prolonged comfort but it’s colored. And then you have the e-ink sort of mode, which is classic black and white, very much like the feeling of paper. Sharing between these modes with a simple click of the button allows me to move seamlessly from different working environments. Quite often I'm walking and talking and looking at documents at the same time. I've also discovered this function where you can press the pen and then it automatically brings you straight into the note writing function.

For me, I think an intelligent ecosystem is very important. It allows notes, documentation, drawing, photos that are synced and integrated with the cloud. It allows collaboration between different users. Ultimately, this is how a note-taking ecosystem can revolutionize productivity, because it simplifies the way we work, it simplifies workflow for all kinds of users, whether it's professionals like myself, students, or even creative minds.

Microsoft Announces Two New AI-Powered Copilot+ PCs

9 mai 2025 à 11:49

Microsoft has announced two new models in its Surface Copilot+ PC lineup, unveiling a compact 12-inch Surface Pro and a refreshed 13-inch Surface Laptop.

Surface Pro, a 2-in-1 device that can be used as a tablet or a laptop, is being launched in an all-new 12-inch size – a slightly smaller form factor than its predecessor that has been "crafted for portability" yet "built for performance" and aimed creatives on-the-go. The new 12-inch model becomes the "thinnest and lightest" model across the ensite Copilot+ PC range and features an adjustable, built-in kickstand together with a detachable keyboard, as well as a tweaked design that now allows the Slim Pen stylus to attach magnetically on the rear of the tablet for both storage and charging.

Microsoft debuted its AI-powered Copilot+ PC laptops last year, making two sizes (13.8-inch and 15-inch) available at launch. Crafted with anodized aluminum, the new 13-inch Surface Laptop sits alongside these and delivers subtle if considered changes that include the introduction of USB-C fast charging as standard (Microsoft has ditched its proprietary charging port with its latest model) and the series' longest battery life yet.

Both models are powered by Qualcomm's super-fast and powerful Snapdragon X Plus processor, with Microsoft even claiming that its new Surface Laptop "outpaces the MacBook Air M3".

On the design front, Microsoft is introducing two new colorways, "Violet" and "Ocean", that join the returning favorite “Platinum” for a total of three finish options across the lineup.

The new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop are available to preorder now via Microsoft’s website. Pricing starts at £799 GBP / $799 USD for the Surface Pro and £899 GBP / $899 USD for the Surface Laptop, with the devices launching May 20 in the U.S. and June 10 in the U.K.
