estudio kmmk’s Winkelhaus Forms a Dialogue With Its Surrounding Landscape

8 mars 2026 à 05:41

Summary

  • Winkelhaus, designed by estudio kmmk in Winkel, Switzerland, is a 643 square meter single‑family residence completed in 2026
  • The house integrates concrete and expansive glazing, maximizing natural light and connecting interior spaces with the surrounding forest and valley

Winkelhaus, designed by estudio kmmk, is a single‑family residence that embodies the studio’s ethos of architecture shaped by nature. Located in Winkel, Switzerland, the project spans 643 square meters and marks the studio's inaugural work in the country.

Conceived to harmonize with its forested surroundings and expansive valley, the home is defined by a gentle arc that aligns every primary living space toward the valley views while shielding the interior from the street. This structural gesture allows the building to act as a radial sequence of rooms that anchor the house to the hillside, ensuring that the daily routines of its inhabitants are constantly connected to the shifting seasons and local landscape.

Concrete surfaces and expansive glazing frame views outward, while the orientation of the structure maximizes natural light and creates fluid transitions between interior and exterior spaces. The design emphasizes sustainability and craftsmanship, positioning the home as both a functional residence and a statement of contemporary architectural values.

In contrast to the robust exterior, the interior of the Winkelhaus is characterized by extreme restraint and a near-monochrome palette. White-washed natural wood, plastered walls and pale flooring create a calm, gallery-like atmosphere that pushes the observer's attention outward toward nature. High‑quality finishes and products from manufacturers such as Dornbracht, Miele, BWB, Huber Fenster AG, Senso and Wever & Ducré underscore the attention to detail.

Andreas Kronthaler is celebrating 21 years at the helm of Vivienne Westwood, continuing to push the house’s theatrical spirit further with each season. For Fall/Winter 2026, Kronthaler pulled from three distinct inspirations to shape a collection that felt unapologetically larger than life. The first was Austrian screen legend Romy Schneider, whose heritage mirrors Kronthaler’s own, followed by the lavish costume sensibilities of Italian designer Danilo Donati. Rounding out the trio is erotic underwear, injecting the collection with a subtle yet persistent sensual charge.

FW26 unfolded like a new chapter of fashion theater. Checkered car coats opened the show, layered over strappy, lingerie-inspired pieces that set the tone for the lineup’s playful provocation. Oversized glittering hats swayed down the runway beside sharply structured silk suits and netted face coverings, while latex skirts, striped blazers, and sheer stockings blurred the lines between menswear and womenswear.

Elsewhere, fabrics were draped and twisted around the body to heighten movement, styled with knit tunics and bleached trucker jackets that added a rebellious edge. The show closed with characteristic humour: a bridal suit crowned with a bouquet of radishes — a wink to the house’s enduring blend of romance, satire, and spectacle.

Pierpaolo Piccioli Channels His Euphoric Charge for Balenciaga FW26

Pierpaolo Piccioli closed out the fifth day of Paris Fashion Week with a statement-making Balenciaga show, unveiling his vision for the house’s menswear alongside a lineup of striking womenswear for Fall/Winter 2026.

The show drew a packed crowd that included Labrinth, rising actor Hudson Williams, and members of the I Love LA cast. For the occasion, Piccioli teamed up with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, projecting fragments of the show’s upcoming fourth season across towering screens throughout the venue — a cinematic backdrop that echoed their shared interest in raw human emotion.

Soundtracked by Labrinth and Rosalía, Piccioli’s Balenciaga menswear debut delivered a charged mix of hooded coats, furry parkas, checkered gradients, and bold wool outerwear rendered in vivid primary hues. Womenswear matched the intensity with sleek gowns, graphic hoodies, and commanding leather pieces.

Titled “Clairobscur,” Piccioli’s second runway for the house presented 81 co-ed looks that balanced drama with refinement. Oversized wool coats arrived with expanded collars that framed the neckline, while dark leather capes paired with eerie beauty looks and runway visuals featuring speeding cars. Off-shoulder outerwear and sharp houndstooth tailoring added structure, while feathers, florals, and waxed Canadian tuxedos injected texture and movement. Fireman-clasp coats and sequin-drenched gowns shimmered under the spotlight, heightening the collection’s theatrical edge.

With Demna’s era behind the house, Piccioli is carving out a new narrative for Balenciaga — one that fuses cinematic storytelling with couture-level drama, bringing a touch of Euphoria to the runway look after look.

Nettspend Navigates His Newfound Global Fame on 'early life crisis'

7 mars 2026 à 20:16

At just 18 years old, Nettspend finds himself in a pretty unique spot. Initially donning a staunch "underground" label, pretty much confined to his internet era-induced, IYKYK sound and label, the teenage rapper has rapidly ascended into the mainstream music scene in no time. Still revered for his strides in the post-SoundCloud space, cementing his own lane with a growing discography defined by distorted production, blown-out beats, and braggadocio beyond his years, the young musician continues to find himself at the forefront of major moments across the zeitgeist, propelling him beyond his Gen-Z guardrails and up the ranks of the global cultural radar.

Nett's latest longform delivery – aptly dubbed early life crisis – is a no-holds-barred assessment of the unique position he's in. Like the lines of the mainstream and the underground, the lines of adulthood and adolescence are blurred across the 21-track endeavor, genuinely eyed by all ages and ends of the music industry.

Last week, Nettspend was supposed to drop the album. February 27 was the original release date, and all eyes were on him. Nett ditched the plan, pushed the album another week, and walked in Demna's debut Gucci show in Paris instead. All eyes were still on him after his appearance on the runway, which ultimately just catalyzed even more anticipation for and directed more eyes to the record's release.

A clear level up from 2024's BAD ASS F*CKING KID, early life crisis hears Nett dial in his distortion a little bit, taking more risks with production, and tapping into the full spectrum of emotions on more introspective tracks than we're used to seeing from him. Features come from fellow underground-meets-mainstream titans, OsamaSon and YoungBoy Never Broke Again, who contribute to "pain talk" and "masked up," respectively.

  • Offered in two colorways, it features include a stonewashed Cerakoteâ„¢ finish, 300m water resistance and "dazzle camouflage" caseback
  • Limited to 300 total pieces with a price tag of around $766 USD

UNIMATIC has unveiled the Modello Cinque UT5-TANC, developed in collaboration with British designer Nigel Cabourn and The Armoury. This release marks a continuation of UNIMATIC’s 2019 partnership with Cabourn, which was originally inspired by the historic Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Embracing a philosophy of "exploration over ornament," the UT5-TANC is designed as a modern expedition tool, prioritizing rugged functionality and a military-inspired aesthetic over fashion-forward trends.

Arriving in a 36mm Modello Cinque case, which is chosen specifically for its balance and wearability in demanding environments, the watch features a stainless steel build finished with a specialized stonewashed Cerakoteâ„¢ coating - available in either green (UT5-TANC-A) or navy blue (UT5-TANC-B) - which provides exceptional durability. A distinctive "dazzle camouflage" design can be spotted on the caseback, while inside, it's powered by a high-accuracy Seiko VH31 quartz movement.

Scheduled for release today via UNIMATIC and The Armoury, the Modello Cinque UT5-TANC is a limited edition, with only 150 individually numbered pieces available for each of the two colorways. Priced at €660 EUR (approx. $766 USD), each watch comes with a custom travel pouch, complete with a two-piece nylon strap featuring hardware that matches the case’s Cerakot finish.

Yohji Yamamoto FW26 Sees a Master at Work

Legendary Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto took over Hôtel de Ville last night, transforming the historic venue with a runway that reimagined traditional Japanese dress through his unmistakable drapery. Greeting cards were placed on every seat, gently asking guests to experience the show with their eyes rather than their phones — a subtle but powerful gesture from the 82-year-old master. True to form, Yamamoto didn’t miss a beat with his Fall/Winter 2026 offering.

The collection unfolded through liberated silhouettes that flowed effortlessly with the body, presenting a lineup of modern-day kimonos that felt both reverent and rebellious. Knotted fabrics gathered at the side of the body, while flashes of contrasting textiles emerged from meticulously constructed robes. Each look began with Yamamoto’s signature black foundation, punctuated by vibrant prints from Katsushika Hokusai that injected bursts of color and narrative.

From artistic flamingo motifs to psychedelic stripes, the garments layered jacquard textures and subtle plaids that pushed the silhouettes into new territory. The result felt suspended between past and future — a quiet dialogue between heritage and experimentation.

For the finale, five models stepped out drenched in tradition, wearing austere knits paired with wooden geta footwear rarely seen beyond ceremonial settings. Towering hair and delicate layers defined the closing moments, as Yamamoto took his final bow to a roaring crowd that, fittingly, bowed back to the master.

Before the five NBA championships, the 81-point game, and the global "Black Mamba" phenomenon, Kobe Bryant was a teenage phenom dominating the courts at Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania. Honoring the origins of his legendary basketball journey, Nike is officially bringing back a beloved 2010 classic with the upcoming release of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro "Lower Merion Aces Away."

Serving as a direct tribute to Kobe’s alma mater, the "Lower Merion Aces Away" colorway brings a healthy dose of nostalgia mixed with modern performance upgrades. As its name suggests, the shoe's design takes direct inspiration from the school's road uniforms, employing a striking "Metallic Silver/Team Red-White" color palette.

Taking a closer look at the details, the sneaker's lightweight synthetic upper is dominated by a sleek, shimmering Metallic Silver base. The high school's signature Team Red provides a sharp, aggressive contrast, boldly outlining the profile Swooshes, the heel counter, and the iconic Sheath logo on the tongue. Anchoring the design, crisp white accents hit the laces and the midsole, seamlessly bridging the metallic and crimson tones. Of course, the most important detail remains intact: the Lower Merion "Aces" logo proudly stamped on the heel, ensuring the high school connection is front and center.

Beyond its sentimental aesthetics, the 2026 "Protro" (performance retro) edition updates the 2010 original with modern tech. Designed for the rigorous demands of today’s game—as recently seen on the feet of NBA players like Lonzo Ball—the shoe features an upgraded Zoom Air cushioning setup and improved traction, guaranteeing it performs just as well on the hardwood as it looks in a collector's display.

For fans of Kobe's enduring legacy and high school basketball lore alike, this drop is an absolute must-have. The Nike Kobe 5 Protro "Lower Merion Aces Away" is slated to release on March 23, 2026, via Nike SNKRS and select global retailers.

Release Date: Summer 2026

The Nike Total 90 III is officially stepping off the pitch and onto the pavement with its latest "Black Denim" rendition. As the early 2000s football wave continues to hold strong across the cultural landscape, Nike keeps digging into its archive to deliver lifestyle-driven updates that seamlessly bridge the gap between performance heritage and modern everyday wear.

Swapping out the model's standard synthetic construction, the upper is now enveloped in a robust black denim. The material boasts a slightly faded, charcoal tone that introduces subtle texture and character without overcomplicating the aesthetic. Crisp white accents punctuate the dark base, appearing on the lateral Swooshes to provide a clean, high-contrast visual break.

Despite the lifestyle-focused material overhaul, the silhouette strictly retains its defining heritage features. The oversized "90" badge remains prominent on the medial side, complemented by the signature stitched forefoot panels that instantly recall the original Total 90 lineage. Subtle "total90III" embroidery near the heel anchors the design. The low-cut profile rests on a solid black sole built for grip, utilizing a traction pattern that maintains its indoor court origins with functional pivot points and herringbone sections. Inside, a padded collar and a simple insole graphic complete the comfortable, everyday build.

First published in 2005, the original manga ran for 10 years on Weekly Young Jump where it gained critical reception for its complex, yet exceptionally clever and well-written games. The story centers on Nao Kanzaki, an impossibly honest girl who is forced into a high-stakes tournament of deception, partnering with the genius swindler Shinichi Akiyama to survive crippling debt. While the property has seen live-action adaptations in the past, an anime series offers the perfect medium to explore the intricate, mind-bending games that define the original manga. Global streaming details are expected to be announced closer to its broadcast date.

Issey Miyake FW26 "Creating, Allowing" Questions Beauty and Creativity

6 mars 2026 à 21:37

For Fall/Winter 2026, Issey Miyake turns its attention to the beauty of the unfinished. Titled “Creating, Allowing,” the collection questions fashion’s obsession with perfection, inviting the audience to reconsider ideas of beauty, creativity, and imperfection. Under the direction of Satoshi Kondo, garments appear almost mid-process — suspended between completion and possibility — allowing the body and movement to complete the story.

The collection unfolded at Carrousel du Louvre during Paris Fashion Week, where drapery and layering anchored the brand’s exploratory approach. A pulsing, static-like heartbeat filled the venue as models emerged in silhouettes that felt intentionally unresolved. Rigid chest plates sculpted the body into sharp, unfamiliar proportions, offset by cascades of fabric that moved freely with each step. Next, tops arrived deliberately unstructured with exaggerated neck openings, while knitwear appeared raw and uncut, as if paused mid-creation.

Oversized trench coats introduced moments of theatricality, styled with folded sailor hats and shoulder-length gloves. Rendered in vivid yellow and blue, their boxy shoulders created a tension between structure and fluidity. Pink woven textiles plunged at the neckline and wrapped the waist with a slightly dystopian edge, while the brand's iconic pleats rippled across the runway in bursts of yellow, orange, and purple.

With “Creating, Allowing,” Kondo continues to challenge fashion’s relentless pursuit of polish. Instead, he embraces process, imperfection, and transformation, proving that sometimes the most compelling designs are the ones left open to interpretation.

Balmain Reinterprets Its Roots in Antonin Tron's FW26 Debut

Top Fashion News: March 6

Antonin Tron’s debut as Creative Director at Balmain marks a shift toward a more "noir" and "austere" sensibility. Drawing inspiration from Pierre Balmain’s original 1946 couture collection, Tron presented a range defined by supple draping and slender silhouettes. While the collection pays homage to archival leopard prints and cinematic influences like Mulholland Drive, it retains the urban sexiness established during Olivier Rousteing’s tenure. The result is a refined balance of high-glamour evening wear and bold-shouldered, business-ready looks. Tron, an Antwerp Royal Academy graduate with a pedigree including Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga, brings a minimalist Atlein ethos to the house, focusing on the interaction between fabric and the feminine form.

Pieter Mulier's Final Collection Delivers an Emotional Swan Song at Alaïa

Top Fashion News: March 6

Pieter Mulier concluded his transformative five-year tenure at Maison Alaïa with a breathtaking Fall/Winter 2026 presentation at Paris Fashion Week. The collection demonstrated his architectural restraint, emphasizing sculptural silhouettes and rigorous construction that honored the late Azzedine Alaïa’s legacy. The final show marks the start of Mulier’s move to Versace, which was confirmed in early February. The designer’s appointment came after the more than $1 billion USD sale of Versace to the Prada Group, announced in 2025. As Mulier turns the page, he reunites with long-time collaborator Raf Simons, who currently helms Prada.

Located at 1028 Alberni Street, the new retail space sits within the city’s prestigious luxury corridor, positioning the brand alongside top-tier fashion houses. The opening is a significant milestone in BAPE's North American expansion strategy, which already includes hubs in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. To celebrate the launch, the store is offering exclusive, limited-edition items designed specifically for the Vancouver market. This move reflects the brand’s commitment to culturally influential cities and its continued influence on global streetwear culture, providing a new home for "fearless self-expression" in Canada.

Costco Is Selling Off-White Hoodies?

Top Fashion News: March 6

In a surprising move for the luxury label, Off-White hoodies have appeared on the shelves of select Costco Canada locations. Priced at approximately $60 USD ($84.99 CAD), the logo hoodies are available in black, white, and blue. This shift toward mass-market retail follows the brand's recent acquisition by Bluestar Alliance, LLC, after LVMH sold the label in 2024. While the move sparks debate regarding the brand’s authenticity, in a certain sense, it aligns with founder Virgil Abloh’s original "democratic" spirit and his history of incorporating everyday symbols into high fashion. The hoodies follow other streetwear staples recently found at Costco, such as Nike Dunks and CDG Play Converse, signaling the retailer's growing interest in hype-driven streetwear drops.

The Virgil Abloh Archiveâ„¢ Officially Launches 'The Virgil Reader Vol. 001' and Public Membership

Top Fashion News: March 6

The Virgil Abloh Archiveâ„¢ (V.A.A.), stewarded by Shannon Abloh, has launched major initiatives to share the late creator's 20,000-piece body of work. The highlight is The Virgil Reader Vol. 001, a printed publication compiling foundational interviews and design insights. Alongside the book, the Archive introduced a free public membership program that provides digital excerpts, exclusive newsletters, and priority access to future drops. This "open-door" policy honors Abloh's belief that ideas are most powerful when shared. To celebrate the rollout, a two-day community activation featuring talks and screenings is scheduled for mid-March in Los Angeles.

Last season, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez officially graduated from Proenza Schouler, turning the page on a defining chapter to begin a new era at LOEWE. With Fall/Winter 2026, the duo sharpen their vision for the Spanish house, delivering a confident lineup of sculptural silhouettes, saturated color, and a preview of their LOEWE menswear.

For their sophomore outing, the designers welcomed guests to the historic Château de Vincennes, where the front row included familiar faces like Sarah Pidgeon and Julia Garner. Playful aquatic sculptures by Cosima von Bonin flanked the space, watching over a 65-look collection that unfolded along a vivid yellow runway. The show opened with a glossy, perfectly folded “lace” dress that slouched with architectural precision, followed by gradient fur coats and long-haired beaded designs topped with monochromatic hoods.

Bursts of color injected optimism into the lineup, balancing humor with dramatic volume. Puffed jackets arrived slope-ready with oversized hoods, while zippered knitwear peeled back to reveal layers in bold primary tones. Fur gowns swirled with texture alongside blooming bombers, leather parkas, and padded scarves rendered in two-tone plaid — rounding out a collection that felt playful, fearless, and unmistakably LOEWE.

Nettspend Dials In His Distortion on early life crisis

Nettspend’s BAD ASS F*CKING KID was rooted in a childlike chaos. Now, still just eighteen years old, the rapper has unveiled the follow-up, aptly entitled early life crisis. BAFK found Nett stuck to the “underground” label, pretty much confined to his internet-induced, IYKYK sound. But as of late, he has rapidly ascended into the ranks of the mainstream music scene. A more dialed-in successor to his studio debut, the 21-track offering blurs the boundaries of the mainstream and the underground, and adolescence and adulthood.

Harry Styles Reminds Us: Kiss All The Time. Disco Occasionally

One of the most anticipated releases on today's first New Music Friday of March was Harry Styles' fourth studio album, also his first in four years. Kiss All The Time. Disco Occasionally.'s 12 songs showcase the musician's fine-tuned artistic range that only seems to continue to extendin reach. Dancefloor-ready existentialism meets electro-alt production in the expansive KATTDO universe, which feels fresh yet filled with intentional references. It also feels very The 1975-coded.

The Scythe Has Landed

Denzel Curry's souped-up supergroup has officially made their formal introduction. Spanning Ferg, TiaCorine, Bktherula and Key Nyata, three of the five members rep the South with pride; Curry, of course, calls South Florida home, with Bk settling in from Atlanta, and Tia coming in hot from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The culmination of cities showing up on Strictly 4 The Scythe envisions quite the electrifying listen from the jump. The full-throttle formal introduction to their group's dynamic range of motion spans an explosive eight tracks, all rooted in seasoned Southern tropes of the past, yet geared aptly for the future.

Baby Keem's "One Night Only" Concert in New York City

For the first time in three years, Baby Keem took the stage in New York City. In fact, the rapper's second show ever was in NYC at Baby's All Right. Keem was slated to host a vinyl signing event for CA$INO last week that ended up getting cancelled due to weather, so he rescheduled and took it up a notch. After hinting at a potential performance on X, Keem officially announced the one-off performance on Wednesday, March 4, at 9:01 a.m. EST. Doors opened at Webster Hall (for those unfamiliar, a 1,500-person intimate concert hall in lower Manhattan) at 8:00 p.m. that same night. Tickets went for $31 USD and sold out in minutes. Needless to say, it was an early contender for show of the year.

Nettspend's Lookbook for the Early Life Crisis Tracklist

Leave it to Nettspend to delay the album – and then do the most when it's time for it to actually drop. Last week, Nett had all eyes on the expected release of his globally eyed Early Life Crisis album. In true Nett fashion, in the eleventh hour, plans changed; instead of dropping the album, he delayed it and walked in Demna's debut Gucci runway in Milan instead. A fair trade, to be quite honest. This week, the rapper returned to his ELC rollout with valor, promising a March 6 release date, preceded by quite the dynamic tracklist reveal. Instead of a typical announcement, he had a lineup of fans pose in the album's merch and state their favorite song from the album. The final product? A lookbook-style unveiling of the full slate of songs set to appear on the record.

It's been a big week for news on Yeat's A DANGEROUS LYFE, and the rapper has really doubled down – literally. After months of speculation (and nearly years of anticipation), Twizzy has finally formally lifted the veil on the A DANGEROUS LYFE announcement. At first, the rapper took to his Instagram to confirm the official release date for ADL – which has now been cemented has Friday, March 27, aka three New Music Fridays from now – via new billboard. The billboard also seemed to potentially hint at a double album format, a theory the rapper then confirmed on Instagram yesterday when he revealed the official cover art for the project, which will be billed as A DANGEROUS LYFE / A DANGEROUS LOVE.

Costco Is Selling Off-White Hoodies?

6 mars 2026 à 19:16

Summary

  • Following its FW26 Paris debut, Off-White is launching affordable hoodies at Costco Canada for approximately $60 USD.
  • Now owned by Bluestar Alliance, the brand’s shift toward mass-market retail sparks debate over its future luxury status and democratic roots.

Off-White, the label founded by Virgil Abloh before he helmed Louis Vuitton, has just presented its FW26 collection at Paris Fashion Week, one of the pinnacle events in the luxury industry's annual calendar. However, at the same time, the brand is coming to a mass-market retailer with products at a fraction of their typical price point.

North American wholesale mega store Costco has become Off-White's latest stockist, continuing the store's recent appetite for streetwear. Following the appearance of Nike Dunks and Comme Des Garçons Play Converse on Costco shelves, Costco Canada has announced that select Canadian locations will soon stock Off-White hoodies for $84.99 CAD or ~$60 USD. The hoodies come in three colorways: black, white, and blue.

Given the designer's democratic and people-oriented spirit, the arrival of Off-White at Costco feels like a move Abloh could have conceived himself.  Virgil Abloh's label has always been unconventional in its approach, reflecting the Chicago-born founder's streetwear roots. The designer often borrowed symbols and designs from everyday life and applied them to his graphics and brand identity.

In 2024, LVMH sold the Off-White brand after only three years of ownership. Currently, the label is owned by the brand management company Bluestar Alliance, LLC, which represents brands at a similar premium tier, such as Palm Angels, as well as mass brands like Dickies.

While one could certainly see Off-White at Costco as fitting into the brand's identity, the news also leads to questions about whether the intentions of the hoodies are to drive more sales or simply to create buzz. More importantly, the development sparks curiosity about where Bluestar Alliance intends to take the brand in the future.

Summary

  • South African photographer and visual activist is the recipient for the 2026 Hasselblad Award, the world’s top photo prize
  • Mulholi is known for their bold portraits which speak to Black queer visibility and challenge historical representations of Black bodies in visual culture
  • The artist will be the center focus of an upcoming exhibition at Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg, Sweden this fall

Zanele Muholi has become one of the most important artists working today. Striking and sublime, their images shape the arc of contemporary photography, making legible the complex codes of identity, belonging and being human. To honor this impact, the South African artist has been named this year’s Hasselblad Award winner, widely regarded as the most prestigious prize in photography.

Based between Johannesburg and Cape Town, Muholi was born in Umlazi during the apartheid. They studied advanced photography at the Market Photo Workshop in Johannesburg before earning an MFA in documentary media at Toronto’s Ryerson University. Over the past two decades, Muholi, represented by Yancey Richardson, has gained international recognition, with major solo presentations at institutions including Fotografiska Shanghai, Tate Modern, International Center of Photography and the Venice Biennale.

More than a photographer, Muholi’s work is one of an activist, using art as a tool to confront the erasure and discrimination of Black bodies in visual culture. Their work merges precision and political urgency to, as the Hasselblad Foundation describes, “articulate and celebrate the depth and dignity” of Black queer communities in South Africa and beyond.

“For years, my work has been about visibility and resistance," the artist wrote. “It has been about creating an archive so that no one can say, ‘We did not know.’ When this honour comes, I receive it on behalf of my community; those who have been erased, those who are still here, and those who are yet to see themselves reflected with dignity.”

Landmark projects from the winner include Faces and Phases (2006–ongoing), one of the most significant series of its time, chronicles lesbian, transgender and gender-nonconforming communities as an act of resistance against systemic violence. Another, perhaps Muholi’s most recognized, series, Somnyama Ngonyama (Hail the Dark Lioness) (2018–ongoing), culls cues from fashion photography, classical portraiture, labor and ethnographic imagery in valiant self-portraits, evoking themes of dignity, performance and empowerment.

The Hasselblad Award carries a prize of SED 2,000,000 (approximately $217,790 USD), a gold medal and a Hasselblad camera. As part of the honor, Muholi will also be the subject of a major solo exhibition at the Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg, Sweden, opening October 10 and running through April 4, 2027.

The Scythe Is on the Scene and "on Some Other Sh*t"

Hypebeast knew about The Scythe long before it was announced. While Denzel Curry formally lifted the veil on the souped-up supergroup in mid-January, we got word of an imminent "Ferg and Denzel collab project" back in December at Miami Art Week, when the Florida rapper pulled up alongside TiaCorine to Ferg's Flip Phone Shorty film screening. At the time, details still remained under lock-and-key, but the off-the-record confirmation alone made for a hard enough secret to keep. Here we are, three months later, and The Scythe has landed on the scene in its full form with a vengeance, equipped with a full-throttle formal introduction to their dynamic, dialed-in range of modern hip-hop motion.

The Curry-helmed collective consists of Ferg, TiaCorine, Bktherula, and his fellow Raider Klan collaborator, Key Nyata; Seattle-bred Nyata and Harlem-hailing Ferg aside, three of the five members rep the South with pride, with Curry, of course, calling South Florida home, Bk settling in from Atlanta, and Tia coming in hot from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The culmination of cities showing up on Strictly 4 The Scythe envisions quite the electrifying listen from the jump across just eight tracks, with the entirety of the production handled by BNYX and his younger brother BRYVN's Working on Dying unit.

In Curry's own world, "The Scythe is a family and a group. We still have our respective solo careers, but when we come together, it is The Scythe."

1. The Scythe feat. A$AP Ferg and TiaCorine
2. Lit Effect feat. Bktherula and LAZER DIM 700
3. Phony feat. A$AP Ferg, Juicy J, and Key Nyata
4. Mutt that Bih feat. 1900Rugrat and Key Nyata
5. Hoopty feat. TiaCorine and Smino
6. You Ain’t Gott Lie feat. 454 and Luh Tyler
7. Tan feat. Bktherula and TiaCorine
8. Up feat. A$AP Ferg, Rich The Kid, and SadBoi

Right off the bat, the turbocharged trifecta of Ferg, Tia, and Denzel kick off with "The Scythe," a perfectly pulse-pounding introduction to the high-octane, half-hour record. This trio, specifically, who teamed up for the first time, formally, for June 2024's "HOT ONE," hops on with a more seasoned sonic synergy, with T packing a witty, well-penned punch from the get-go before handing the head-banging beat off to the boys.

"Lit Effect" was a single for a reason, BK her own atop gritty, Memphis-geared production alongside LAZER DIM 700. Another standout non-Scythe feature comes from Juicy J on the following track, "Phony," another amped-up apex of the adrenaline-spiking eight-tracker leveled up by a contagious hook: "I had to cut the shit / They on some other shit / This strictly for the scythe / We on some members only shit."

Other non-member appearances come from a range of both underground ascendants and genre pioneers. 1900Rugrat shows out on recent single "Mutt that Bih" and 454 slides on "You Ain't Gott Lie," while Smino spits with Tia on "Hoopty," and closing cut "Up" spotlights support from both the old guard (Rich The Kid) and the new guard (SadBoi).

Rooted in the past, representative of the future. Strictly 4 The Scythe is out everywhere now.

Nike Reveals Three Style-First Silhouettes for Women

Summary

  • Nike just revealed the First Sight collection, featuring three new hybrid silhouettes designed for women
  • The Noir combines the styling of a track spike and loafer, Mirage a football boot and Oxford, and Shadow a basketball shoe and boot
  • Dropping first is the Noir, which arrives on March 20, with the other two models landing on shelves later this year

The Nike First Sight line is a new campaign bringing fresh energy to women's footwear. Designed to emphasize self-expression, three hybrid styles have been created by the brand. “What looks cool, appeals to her, and feels new and exciting? We wanted to ground this collection in Nike’s athletic DNA while opening it up to the future through the lens of sportswear made distinctly for her,” shares energy footwear expert Jeff Scott.

Leading the collection is the Noir, which draws inspiration from track spikes and loafers. Previewed previously, the model is sleek with strong geometry present for the tooling. Another merging of two worlds is accomplished with the Mirage, which nods to football boots and Oxford dress shoes. A unique cushioning system sees 3D-sculpted TPU spikes stand out. Rounding out the range is the slip-on Shadow, blending Nike Basketball's '00 DNA with classic boots.

The rollout of the Nike First Sight collection begins with the Noir, which debuts on March 20 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at an expected starting price of $125 USD. From there, the Mirage and Shadow are set to drop later this year.
