Summary

  • UNIMATIC partners with Nigel Cabourn and The Armoury for a 36mm UT5‑TANC expedition watch
  • Offered in two colorways, it features include a stonewashed Cerakoteâ„¢ finish, 300m water resistance and "dazzle camouflage" caseback
  • Limited to 300 total pieces with a price tag of around $766 USD

UNIMATIC has unveiled the Modello Cinque UT5-TANC, developed in collaboration with British designer Nigel Cabourn and The Armoury. This release marks a continuation of UNIMATIC’s 2019 partnership with Cabourn, which was originally inspired by the historic Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Embracing a philosophy of "exploration over ornament," the UT5-TANC is designed as a modern expedition tool, prioritizing rugged functionality and a military-inspired aesthetic over fashion-forward trends.

Arriving in a 36mm Modello Cinque case, which is chosen specifically for its balance and wearability in demanding environments, the watch features a stainless steel build finished with a specialized stonewashed Cerakoteâ„¢ coating - available in either green (UT5-TANC-A) or navy blue (UT5-TANC-B) - which provides exceptional durability. A distinctive "dazzle camouflage" design can be spotted on the caseback, while inside, it's powered by a high-accuracy Seiko VH31 quartz movement.

Scheduled for release today via UNIMATIC and The Armoury, the Modello Cinque UT5-TANC is a limited edition, with only 150 individually numbered pieces available for each of the two colorways. Priced at €660 EUR (approx. $766 USD), each watch comes with a custom travel pouch, complete with a two-piece nylon strap featuring hardware that matches the case’s Cerakot finish.

Vacheron Constantin Debuts First Minute Repeater in Overseas Collection

Summary

  • Vacheron Constantin's Overseas Grand Complication Openface is the first minute repeater in the Overseas collection
  • It features a 44.5mm titanium case with a complex, openwork sapphire dial
  • Its 2755 QP caliber includes a minute repeater, perpetual calendar and tourbillon

Vacheron Constantin has unveiled the Overseas Grand Complication Openface watch -- the first minute repeater in the Overseas collection. It represents the culmination of a significant endeavor to integrate a grand complication mechanism into an elegant case.

Featuring a 44.5mm case diameter, the timepiece comes in a titanium build with a highly complex sapphire crystal dial. The dial showcases an openworked design, adorned with 18k white gold indices and hands. Meanwhile, the chapter ring and the day, date, and month counters all exhibit a sophisticated blue color, adding a touch of color to the watch face.

Viewable through the watch's open caseback is the 2755 QP movement, which provides approximately 58 hours of power reserve. Despite its slim 7.9 mm thickness, the movement incorporates several complex complications. These include a minute repeater, a perpetual calendar, a tourbillon, and a power reserve indicator. Vacheron Constantin also paid particular attention to the aesthetics of the centripetal regulator -- an arc-shaped bar crafted from gold that secures the regulator. Beneath it, the circular-grained inertia weights are engraved with the initials of Jean-Marc Vacheron, the founder of the Maison in 1755.

Water resistance typically presents a challenge for watches with a minute repeater function due to the sliding mechanism that activates the repeater. For this specific model, Vacheron Constantin ensured the water resistance of the Overseas case. This was achieved while adapting the case design to accommodate the caliber. This process involved 18 months of research and development, including a complete redesign of the caseback to accommodate the minute repeater mechanism, all the while preserving the characteristic slender curves of the series

The Overseas Grand Complication Openface is confirmed as a limited production, available with a matching titanium bracelet as well as two additional straps in alligator or rubber. For more details regarding the watch’s availability and price, visit Vacheron Constantin’s official website.

Summary

  • H. Moser & Cie.'s new Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton Rainbow blends jewelry and watchmaking
  • The watch features 60 baguette-cut sapphires in a rainbow gradient on a 40mm case
  • It showcases a fully skeletonized HMC 814 movement with a flying tourbillon

After bringing a duo of dazzling Streamliner Flyback Chronograph watches to Watches & Wonders Geneva last month, H. Moser & Cie. continues to enrich the collection with a vibrant new timepiece: the Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton Rainbow.

Typically, Moser does not incorporate precious stones into its timepieces. However, this new model represents a deliberate choice to use brilliance as a means to emphasize the beauty of the movement, balance and even overall minimalism. As a result, the timepiece achieves a harmonious combination of jewelry artistry and watchmaking expertise.

Offered in 5N red gold or steel, the timepiece features 60 baguette-cut sapphires with vibrant colors. The stones are invisibly set on the case middle in a dual gradient — one gradient reproduces the colors of the rainbow, while the other gradient in size accentuates the Streamliner 40mm cushion-shaped case. The gemstones also visually enhance the fully skeletonized HMC 814 movement that is fully in view through the watch’s face.
