  • The house integrates concrete and expansive glazing, maximizing natural light and connecting interior spaces with the surrounding forest and valley

Winkelhaus, designed by estudio kmmk, is a single‑family residence that embodies the studio’s ethos of architecture shaped by nature. Located in Winkel, Switzerland, the project spans 643 square meters and marks the studio's inaugural work in the country.

Conceived to harmonize with its forested surroundings and expansive valley, the home is defined by a gentle arc that aligns every primary living space toward the valley views while shielding the interior from the street. This structural gesture allows the building to act as a radial sequence of rooms that anchor the house to the hillside, ensuring that the daily routines of its inhabitants are constantly connected to the shifting seasons and local landscape.

Concrete surfaces and expansive glazing frame views outward, while the orientation of the structure maximizes natural light and creates fluid transitions between interior and exterior spaces. The design emphasizes sustainability and craftsmanship, positioning the home as both a functional residence and a statement of contemporary architectural values.

In contrast to the robust exterior, the interior of the Winkelhaus is characterized by extreme restraint and a near-monochrome palette. White-washed natural wood, plastered walls and pale flooring create a calm, gallery-like atmosphere that pushes the observer's attention outward toward nature. High‑quality finishes and products from manufacturers such as Dornbracht, Miele, BWB, Huber Fenster AG, Senso and Wever & Ducré underscore the attention to detail.

  • Max Radford Gallery and Ercol have joined forces to create a furniture collection alongside six emerging designers
  • The "Grain Pile" show is part of this year's London Design Festival, and brings together Andu Masebo, Eddie Olin, Joe Armitage,  Jaclyn Pappalardo, Isabel Alonso, and Lewis Kemmenoe

Exhibition space isn't easy to come by in a city like London, and sometimes, you've just got to improvise. In Max Radford's case, the perfect location for his London Design Festival show came in the form of an old fire station, which the gallerist has filled with pieces by some of the capital's best emerging talent.

"Grain Pile" brings together six designers: Andu Masebo, Eddie Olin, Joe Armitage,  Jaclyn Pappalardo, Isabel Alonso, and Lewis Kemmenoe. In collaboration with Ercol, each has crafted a new body of work, working closely alongside the British brand's factories and materials.

Andu Masebo's "Seconds Stools" make use of parts that were defective components of furniture from Ercol's production line. Typical of his style, each is finished in a block color, breathing new life into a material that would've otherwise been unused.

Lewis Kemmenoe also employed a technique for which he is known, creating playful patterns on the sides of his rocking chair using marquetry. Eddie Olin marked his first time working with wood, creating a black-stained dining set complete with his signature metal work details, and Isabel Alonso designed a series of low tables crafted from three components: an arch, a cylinder, and a surface.

The show is complete with works from Joe Armitage and Jaclyn Pappalardo. Armitage, who was born and raised in London, looked to the city's architecture for inspiration for his armchair, which features details inspired by Keeling House by modernist architect Denys Lasdun.

Pappalardo was the only designer to veer away from tables and chairs, and instead crafted a cabinet based on the nostalgia she felt towards Ercol furniture.

For Radford, the year-long project is the perfect example of how the UK's design industry can support both itself and emerging talent.

"As a gallery, we tend to focus on UK-based talent, and to collaborate with one of the only large-scale UK-based producers feels like a perfect match," he says. "It’s good to see the design industry supporting emerging design talent in a meaningful way."

"Max and I had been talking over the last few years about trying to find a meaningful way to work together," said Henry Tadros, chairman of Ercol and great-grandson of Lucian Ercolani. "I wanted to be able to let the designers use Ercol as an inspiration and then as a tool to realise their designs where we could."

Grain Pile is on show as part of this year's London Design Festival, which is taking place across the city until September 21.

Summary

  • Architect John Pawson collaborated with Herman Miller to launch the Pawson Drift Sofa Group, a minimalist seating collection featuring rectilinear frames and sustainable, plant-based materials.

London-based architect John Pawson has collaborated with American design purveyor Herman Miller to introduce an all-new seating collection, the Pawson Drift Sofa Group. Defined by minimalist forms and responsible materials, the lounge sofa line embraces Pawson's soft-modernist vision and the furniture brand's heightened focus on sustainability.

“Like all my work, this sofa group is the outcome of a process of stripping right back to the point where one’s primary experience of space and objects is rooted in the quality of proportion, surface, and light,” shared Pawson in an official statement.

The resulting pieces are strong yet simplistic, with bold rectilinear frames that depart from the rounded forms of Mid-Century trends. Reminiscent of the stripped-back wooden furnishings of traditional Japanese design, the joinery is made from solid Nortwood in a left- or right-chaise sectional, and a lounge chair. While offering optimal support for varied domestic use, the recessed platform and wrap-around design imbue the collection with a light and clean effect.

With more than 80% natural, plant-derived components, the design may be pared back, but it rests on innovative fabrications to promote circularity. A responsibly sourced down feather jacket provides additional comfort to cushions, which use plant-based latex instead of petroleum-based foam. While the frame can be ordered in white oak or walnut, Herman Miller also offers Greenguard™ Gold Certified fabrics, Rowan, Beck, and Isa, helping to promote cleaner indoor air.

The Pawson Drift Sofa Group is available in stores and online at the Herman Miller web store and through MillerKnoll dealers for contract customers.

  • TABLEAU and Bloc Studios unveil the TRUNK VASE, their second collaboration
  • The marble vase, inspired by tree trunks/bones, explores the human-nature connection
  • Limited to 10 pieces, the vase is available for inquiry now

Copenhagen-based design studio TABLEAU has once again partnered with Bloc Studios for a collaborative offering. Marking their second project together, the collaboration centers on the TRUNK VASE -- the perfect culmination of TABLEAU's radical botanical expressions and Bloc Studios' sculptural, avant-garde marble discipline.

As its name suggests, the TRUNK VASE features a form that's reminiscent of a tree trunk. Carved from rare Giallo Imperiale marble, the pieces evoke the rugged texture of a tree trunk while retaining the refined finish of fine stone. Expert Carrara artisans shape each piece to highlight its natural veins and matte surface, then hollow out the core to house living flowers. The vase’s deliberately ambiguous form invites viewers to question the boundary between the organic world and human craft.

Julius Værnes Iversen, founder and creative director of TABLEAU, describes the TRUNK VASE as "more than a vessel for flowers — it’s a conversation about what connects us." He explains, "We set out to create something that evokes both the human body and the forest, where the viewer’s interpretation becomes part of the piece.” Meanwhile, Sara Ferron, founder of Bloc Studios, adds that this collaboration challenged them "to stretch marble beyond function — into metaphor. The TRUNK VASE feels raw, almost primitive — yet it’s unmistakably refined. It reflects nature’s form and humanity’s place within it.” This dialogue between the designers underscores the conceptual depth and artistic intention behind the piece.

With just ten pieces produced worldwide, the TRUNK VASE is available exclusively through select galleries as well as TABLEAU and Bloc Studios' official platforms.

The GRAMMY Awards are getting a refresh in 2026, with the Recording Academy introducing two brand new categories: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover. This exciting update reflects the ever-evolving musical landscape and aims to honour a broader spectrum of creative talent.

These additions also bring fresh excitement for fans and creators alike. Whether you’re a country enthusiast or a vinyl lover drawn to striking visuals, the new categories invite a broader audience to see themselves reflected on music’s biggest stage.

“Whether you’re a country fan or a vinyl collector who loves stunning album covers, there’s a new GRAMMY category with your name on it,” the Recording Academy teased.

Speaking to GRAMMY.com, CEO Harvey Mason jr. explained the motivation behind the changes: “Each year during our Awards & Nominations review, our focus is on refining our rules, uncovering anything that is no longer working, and ensuring we are celebrating our creative community in the most meaningful way,” he said.

“I’m thrilled that many of this year’s changes … allow us to honour even more creators. That’s always a positive outcome for me. But even more importantly, these are much-needed updates that ensure those who are making significant contributions to the musical process are properly recognised and have the opportunity to be celebrated on Music’s Biggest Night.”

One of the most notable additions is Best Album Cover, a category that acknowledges the power of visual storytelling in today’s digital-first world. “In today’s digital world, album covers are arguably more impactful than ever,” Mason jr. continued.

“Their cultural significance is undeniable. That’s one of the reasons members of the art director community and our Awards & Nominations members felt [the Best Album Cover] category was necessary. The Packaging Field has always thrived, but we expect this to be one of our most inclusive categories to date.”

The country genre is also receiving a more nuanced platform. The existing Best Country Album category will now be renamed Best Contemporary Country Album, making room for the newly established Best Traditional Country Album. This shift acknowledges the genre’s ongoing evolution and also the resurgence of its roots.

“Country music has evolved in a major way over the past decade, with traditional country experiencing a massive resurgence, growing in popularity and volume,” Mason jr. said. “This action by our members now opens the door for us to celebrate more artists and a wider range of music. By adding this new Category and renaming the Country Album Category, we’re creating more space for all the diverse artists who are shaping the future of country music.”

These changes come on the heels of a landmark 2025 GRAMMYs ceremony. Kendrick Lamar took home five awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for Not Like Us.” Meanwhile, Tems took home award (her second Grammy win) for Best African Music Performance for her hit Love Me JeJe,” and Beyoncé made history with her long-awaited Album of the Year win for Cowboy Carter,” which she dedicated to trailblazing country artist Linda Martell.

The 2026 GRAMMYs will take place on Sunday, February 1 in Los Angeles, with nominations set to be announced on Friday, November 7, 2025.

Summary

  • EDWorks. has unveiled a metal-clad getaway cabin in the hills of Kozak Plateau, centered around a conversation pit embedded into the local terrain.

Istanbul-based architect EDWorks. has created a peaceful retreat nestled on the hills of the Kozak Plateau atop an existing dry stone vineyard wall, minimizing disruption to the natural landscape. Standing out with its rusted metal shell, the woodland cabin's distinctly modern silhouette is balanced by the patinated exterior and textured wooden interior walls.

"Ultimately, the identity of the structure is shaped by the interplay of two opposing tectonic approaches in terms of materials, construction techniques, production methods, the contrast between locality and foreignness," shared designer Edizel Demirel in a statement.

The tall and tent-like interior is clad with wooden panels and supported by diagonal brown metal beams, echoing the design language of Scandinavian architecture. Core to the interior is the central conversation pit — a sunken living space embedded into the topography of the hillside, creating an especially grounded feeling. While "wet areas" and other rooms are attached as extensions to the central unit, on the upper loft, the sleeping area is suspended above the pit.

The home's windows, which protrude from the exterior, open towards a scenic window framing a panoramic view. The designer describes them as the house's "eyes" —  "creating sculptural moments that mediate between the interior and exterior."

See the gallery above for a closer look at EDWorks.'s "Cabin in Woods" project.

Summary

  • Muuto and Lise Vester have unveiled the all-new Dream View Chair, a reflective stainless steel chair designed for skygazing.

Set to be unveiled at Copenhagen's 3daysofdesign, Muuto and Danish designer Lise Vester have designed the Dream View Bench, a curvaceous steel seat designed for ergonomic skygazing.

Vester started the design by mapping her posture in the sand of a beach, and translating the shape to styrofoam. After testing the design with people of various ages and heights, the designer refined the shape to find the most comfortable design for looking at the sky. Made in Denmark, the Dream View Chair is available in single 60cm seats and 100cm two-seaters for a shared experience.

The chair's reflective materiality refracts surrounding hues in the chair's undulating curves, creating not only a functional piece of furniture but also a modern statement suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Most notably, the piece becomes drenched with the colors of the open sky when placed outside, adding a striking visual element to the design.

“The sky remains ever-present – limitless and available to most, as long as we remember to look up. When we do, natural daylight, shifting colors, the moon, passing clouds, and birds suddenly feel within reach. This beauty – and these small moments of appreciation – are often overlooked in the rush of daily life. I wanted to create a design that draws the viewer’s gaze upward, curating moments of focus and daydreaming while gazing,” Lise Vester said in a statement.

The Dream View Bench will be pre-launched at the Muuto space in Copenhagen during the 3daysofdesign festival and will officially be released in September 2025.

Summary

  • Italian fabric label Dedar and designer Stephen Burks have partnered with the quiltmakers of Gee's Bend, Alabama, to create 10 new pieces, showcased at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale.

Italian textile purveyor Dedar has united with designer Stephen Burks and non-profit Sew Gee's Bend Heritage Builders to create a special collection of quilts rooted in Alabama's rich quilting tradition, passed down from generation to generation.

Burks, the first and only African American industrial design practice to win the National Design Award in Product Design, participated in a week-long workshop with the local quiltmakers, culminating in 10 large-scale pieces using textiles donated by Dedar. The resulting quilts, featuring Dedar fabrics like Tiger Mountain and Jamu Jungle, follow the traditional structures of the tradition while adding movement with modern touches.

Over the 20th century, the quilts came to serve as a medium for collective authorship and resistance in the face of inequality. At the height of the Civil Rights Movement, the quilts became a key source of income in support of jailed and disenfranchised activists in the American struggle for racial equity.

With works showcased in museums like The Met and The Whitney, the historic Gee's Bend quilting tradition has garnered a timeless appeal that speaks to today's appetite for bold geometry, rhythmic asymmetry, and use of repurposed materials. The collection's unveiling at the United States Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale marks the first time contemporary Gee's Bend quilts have been made in collaboration with a global design house and presented on the world stage in this format.

6:AM Glassworks has recently unveiled its new "▢ [quadrato]" collection, a visual statement that reinterprets Murano-blown glass through essential lines and geometric forms. This innovative series draws inspiration from the industrial lamps of the 1920s, blending the rational language of the Bauhaus movement with the minimalist aesthetic championed by Malevich. The resulting collection spotlights modular lighting pieces, where intricate details, such as air bubbles, grooves and transparencies, contribute to each product's unique narrative.

" ▢ [quadrato]" was debuted during this year's Milan Design Week, where it was featured within the Two-Fold Silence exhibition held at Piscina Cozzi -- a historic former public bath. This setting provided a unique immersion into the brand’s creative universe, allowing visitors to experience the interplay of rationality and instinct, as well as form and intuition that define the collection.

The collection offers a versatile range of lighting solutions, available in suspension, wall, table, and floor variations. A notable piece within the collection is the ▢ [EXIT], which features screen-printed lattimo glass and a painted iron structure. Inspired by emergency lamps from the '20s, its pattern replicates pre-plastic designs, blending functionality with artistic craftsmanship in a striking red and white palette.

Another standout piece worth mentioning is the ▢ [quadrato 36], a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic chandelier. This striking installation, composed of 36 hand-blown glass cubes, recalls the purity of Bauhaus aesthetics. Its planar arrangement emphasizes geometric precision, forming a floating grid of illuminated cubes that can be inquired about upon request.

Crafted from lattimo handblown glass and powder-coated iron, the "▢ [quadrato] collection" exemplifies 6:AM's commitment to transforming functional objects into aesthetic and architectural pieces. Prices vary between €900 - €5,200 EUR (approx $1,035 - $5,978 USD) across the collection, with the exception of ▢ [quadrato 3 being available upon request. Summary

  • Hem has partnered with British-Ghanaian designer Kusheda Mensah to launch the "Palma Pouf" series
  • The poufs are inspired by natural forms and designed to be functional sculptures that encourage interaction and connection.
  • The Palma collection can be purchased on Hem.com now and will be presented at the 3daysofdesign festival in Copenhagen next week

Swedish brand Hem has teamed up with British-Ghanaian designer Kusheda Mensah to create a series of organic-shaped poufs named "Palma".

Launching next week, the piece marks the first collaboration between Hem and London-based Mensah, and is a continuation of an earlier collection "Mutual I".

As with the original collection, each piece in the Palma range takes its form cues from naturally occurring shapes, such as the human body. Conceptually, Mensah developed "Mutual I" as a series of functional sculptures that would encourage interaction and connection. This idea has become somewhat of a constant throughout her practice, and is something she brings to the Hem collaboration, too.

"I'm incredibly excited to be presenting the Palma collection at 3DD – it's my debut at the festival, and a real milestone in my journey as a Black woman in design," she said. "This moment is my vision board brought to life."

"Kusheda’s work was an instant love affair; rigorous research and playful spirit made for a paw-like pouf that makes us smile every time," added Petrus Palmér, Hem Founder and CEO.

Palma is made up of three sculptural forms suitable for perching, supporting, and reclining. Designed to accommodate multiple users, each segment of the pouf facilitates inward seating to promote closeness and conversation, whether used individually or in a larger configuration.

Each is available in a range of finishes, including Kvadrat upholstery, boucle, and leather. The three part series will be shown at next week's 3daysofdesign festival in Copenhagen, and is available now on Hem.com on, with prices beginning at €799 (approximately $899 USD).

Summary

  • Cloud House in Ho Chi Minh City offers co-living with a distinct design
  • It features loft suites, communal spaces, and cloud-shaped openings for ventilation
  • The design maximizes space and integrates natural elements for better living

Located within a dense urban area in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Cloud House is a boutique co-living project designed by ROOM+ Design & Build. The first thing that catches one's eye about this establishment is its distinct design. The building's surroundings include townhouses of varying heights and scales. Its distinct appearance serves as a creative and functional response to the increasing cost of urban housing.

To improve the building's environmental performance, the design incorporates various circular openings and cloud-like shapes across its façades and roof-- echoing its name. These elements support natural ventilation throughout the structure, allowing ample daylight within the living spaces.

The design is based on three primary strategies, which include loft-style private suites, multifunctional communal spaces and the incorporation of natural elements into its building. Cloud House includes six loft-style suites and two standard studios. In each loft unit, a raised platform is positioned above the entry and bathroom areas. This design optimizes the 3.5-meter floor-to-ceiling height to increase usable space. A neutral material and color palette are utilized throughout. Smartly designed and multifunctional furniture, such as seating benches, wardrobes and storage cabinets, are harmoniously integrated with structural components.

Additionally, a common sitting area at the mezzanine level and the rooftop terrace are shared amenities. These communal spaces foster a sense of community among the residents. The ground floor and a central courtyard serve as designated parking for bicycles and motorbikes. Positioned at the building's core is a spiral staircase, which functions as the main circulation path while also facilitating interaction among the building's residents.

The International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF)

Hypebeast Guide to NYCxDesign 2025 New York Design Week

Arguably the US equivalent of Milan's Salone Del Mobile, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) is the largest fair of NYCxDesign. Occupying the expansive Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan, the trade-geared event comprises numerous booths featuring installations and exhibitions from global manufacturers, artisans, and designers. These photos of Priscilla Ojo and Juma Jux could easily pass for a second traditional wedding ceremony, one might think the couple tied the knot again just weeks after their lavish celebration in Lagos, where they had both their traditional and white wedding.

But no, they haven’t said “I do” twice.

The photos are actually taken from the newly released music video for “God Design,” a track by Juma Jux featuring Nigerian rapper Phyno.

The video is a rich showcase of African culture, and Juma Jux and his wife, Priscilla, embraced that spirit fully—dressed in head-to-toe Igbo style. Juma Jux wears a deep red velvet outfit with gold patterned detailing. His red cap is crowned with a long, cream feather, and his neck is layered with coral beads. On his wrist is a single beaded bracelet, and in his hand, he carries a circular fan bearing a lion’s face and the words “AFRICAN BOY.”

Priscilla complements his look in a silver gown with a structured, floral-appliqued bodice. Her gele is large and sculptural, sitting proudly atop her head, and she completes her look with a silver-and-gold necklace, matching bangles on both wrists, and a ring. The gown’s skirt falls in soft, draped layers that move beautifully.

It’s a look that wouldn’t feel out of place at a traditional wedding.

Juma Jux is turning a milestone moment into a musical keepsake.

The Tanzanian artist just dropped the visuals for “God Design,” his collaboration with Nigerian rapper Phyno—and it’s not just a video, it’s a love letter. Released on the same day as his traditional wedding to Priscilla Ojo, the track takes on an even deeper meaning, bringing their celebration full circle.

Jux appears in traditional Igbo attire, a respectful nod to Nigerian culture that quickly resonated with fans. “From Otunba to Odogwu,” one viewer wrote, summing up the artist’s transformation with affection. His wife, Priscilla is dressed in silver Igbo regalia, and she look so beautiful.

The video also includes the people closest to them: Priscilla’s mother Iyabo Ojo, her friends Chioma Ikokwu and Enioluwa Adeoluwa, and Liam, the son of the late Mohbad. Jux’s siblings and uncle also appear, adding to the sense of home and shared celebration.

The fashion, the glam, the stunning looks, Priscilla Ojo and Juma Jux’s traditional wedding gave us all that and more. But beyond the showstopping style moments, something even more special unfolded: a brand-new song from the groom himself, titled ‘God Design,’ featuring Nigerian rap star Phyno.

Now this is a wedding gift we didn’t see coming, but we’re loving every bit of it. ‘God Design’ marks the third time Juma Jux has made music for his bride. First came  ‘Ololufe Mi,’ then ‘Si Mimi,’ and now ‘God Design’—released on their wedding day to honour the love they share.

“This one’s for our Traditional Wedding season. Forever starts now,” Juma shared on Instagram

The track is part of his 7-track EP ‘A Day to Remember,’ which he describes as “a soundtrack to our love story.” And true to that, ‘God Design’ captures the joy, excitement and deep emotion of the celebration. Lyrics like “Ayo mi ti de” (my joy has come) and “This is God’s design, and forever you’ll be mine” echo the promises made during the ceremony.

Phyno drops a smooth verse, bringing extra flavour to the track and just when you think it couldn’t get any sweeter, Iyabo Ojo, the bride’s mum, closes out the track with a prayer for the couple’s new beginning.

What a moment. What a tune.

Listen to ‘God Design’ below.
