Omah Lay, in an official announcement, has confirmed the release date of his highly anticipated album, 'Clarity of Mind.'

After months of anticipation and cryptic social media teasers, Afro-fusion sensation Omah Lay has officially confirmed that his highly anticipated sophomore studio album, Clarity of Mind, will be released globally on April 3, 2026.

The announcement marks a significant milestone for the Port Harcourt-born artist as he follows up the massive critical and commercial success of his 2022 debut, Boy Alone. Fans have been eager to see how his signature "purple" sound has evolved, and the title suggests a shift toward a more grounded and self-aware perspective.

The upcoming project is set to be a concise and intentional body of work, featuring a total of 12 tracks. To bridge his recent musical journey with this new era, the album will include three previously released singles that have already made significant waves: the rhythmic and spiritual "Holy Ghost," the hypnotic 2025 hit "Waist," and his most recent emotional offering, "Don’t Love Me."

While his previous work dove deep into themes of isolation and personal struggle, Clarity of Mind is expected to showcase a more balanced Omah Lay. Industry insiders suggest the nine remaining new tracks will lean further into his unique blend of soul, R&B, and traditional West African rhythms, but with a newfound sense of internal peace.

The April 3, 2026, release date perfectly positions the album to dominate the second quarter of the year, likely setting the sonic tone for the 2026 summer music season. As one of Africa’s most compelling global storytellers, Omah Lay’s return is poised to be one of the definitive musical moments of the year.

History was made in Los Angeles this weekend during the 68th Annual Grammy Awards season. The pioneer of Afrobeat, Fela Anikulapo–Kuti, was posthumously honoured with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony. This landmark recognition makes Fela the first African artist to receive this honour, a moment that cements the global legacy of Nigerian music.

The Recording Academy bestowed this honour upon Fela alongside an elite group of international music heavyweights, including Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Cher, and Paul Simon. In an official statement, Harvey Mason Jr, CEO of the Recording Academy, described the honorees as an extraordinary group whose influence spans generations, genres, and the very foundation of modern music.

The ceremony was a significant family affair, with Femi Kuti, Yeni Kuti, Shalewa Kuti, and Kunle Kuti present to accept the award on behalf of their father. The pride of the Kuti dynasty was evident as they took to the stage to acknowledge Fela’s enduring impact.

During the acceptance speech, Yeni Kuti expressed her gratitude to the Academy and the family’s supporters. “I want to thank the Grammys for this wonderful award. I’m sure my father is smiling down on us, she said. She also took a moment to recognise the family members who were absent, saying, I want to acknowledge my siblings who couldn’t be here tonight, Motunrayo and Seun, and my nephew who is carrying Afrobeat to another level, Made.”

Femi Kuti followed with a tribute to his father’s mission and the global community that has sustained Afrobeat for decades. “I would like to thank all the people carrying Afrobeat that are in this place tonight. DJs, the press, our label Partisan Records, our lawyers, fans all over the world, he noted. He concluded with a reflection on the weight of the moment: Thank you for bringing our father here. It’s so important for Africa. It’s so important for world peace and struggle.”

This recognition by the Recording Academy serves as a definitive validation of Fela’s role as a foundational figure in contemporary music, whose message continues to inspire millions worldwide in 2026.

By Emmanuel ‘Waziri’ Okoro

Women in Film and TV South Africa (WIFT South Africa) has officially launched, marking a major step in empowering women across the country’s film, television, and creative sectors.

The organisation joins the Women in Film and Television International (WIFTI) network, which spans more than 60 chapters across six continents, all working towards a common goal of achieving gender balance in the industry.

The South African chapter is led by writer and director, Athi Petela, who serves as its first president. She is supported by a founding leadership team that includes Actor Spaces Co-Founder, Felicia Naiwa Sithebe (Programmes Lead), Hayani Africa Managing Director, Tumelo Moema (Head of Communications), and business consultant and entrepreneur, Andile Mqwebu (Outreach Lead).

Together, they are building a platform designed to foster opportunity, drive inclusivity, and create sustainable careers for women in the creative industries.

WIFT

“Our mission is to build bridges across the continent and beyond,” Petela said. “It is about creating pathways for women to thrive, telling stories that reflect our diverse realities, and ensuring women are not just part of the conversation but at the forefront of shaping the future of film and television.”

The chapter’s launch comes as Petela prepares to represent South Africa at the Women in Film and TV Conference, a flagship event of the Africa Creative Market. The conference, themed “Creative Bridge: Empowering Talent, Accessing Ecosystems, Unlocking Markets”, takes place on 16 September 2025 at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.

She will appear alongside influential WIFT leaders from across the continent, including:

  • Njoki Muhoho, President, WIFT Kenya
  • Joke Silva, President, Forum for Women in Film and TV Africa (FWIFT Nigeria)
  • Fatou Jupiter Toure, President, WIFT Senegal
  • Juliet Ibrahim, President, WIFT Ghana
  • Tatapong Bayela, Vice President, WIFT Cameroon

The session will be moderated by Inya Lawal, President of WIFT Africa. While WIFT South Africa will host its official launch event in November at the Africa Rising International Film Festival, its presence at the Africa Creative Market signals the start of a strategic programme aimed at empowering women through mentorship, training, and leadership development; advocating for equity and representation across the creative value chain; unlocking markets to help women creators access funding, platforms, and audiences, and more.

By joining WIFT International’s global network, WIFT South Africa becomes part of a sisterhood of more than 50 chapters worldwide, united in their mission to reshape industries and champion women’s creative contributions.

22 août 2025 à 10:06

Grammy-winning afropop star Mr Eazi returns today with “Casanova,” the new single from his forthcoming Maison Rouge EP, set for release this September via emPawa Africa.

“Casanova,” which was produced by Ghana’s TMXO and Nigerian super producer Kel-P, is a playful yet emotionally revealing track about love, temptation, and self-awareness. Inspired by real conversations and moments of vulnerability, the song explores the tension between loyalty and attraction, honesty and misunderstanding. It’s a confession, both cheeky and sincere, about being drawn to women but wanting to hold onto the one he truly loves.“Casanova is me being honest in the most unfiltered way,” Mr Eazi says.

I’m saying, ‘Yes, I love women, but my heart is with you.’ It’s about the reality of relationships and how we navigate our flaws, temptations, and the little things that can make or break love.

The track is supported by an artful music video shot in Spain by director Ademola Falomo (Tems, Davido, Joeboy). Packing a movie’s worth of plot and intrigue into its 2 1⁄2 minute run time, the “Casanova” visual follows the travails of a cab driver who finds himself in the crosshairs of a jealous wife after she catches him with another woman without knowing the full details behind their rendezvous. Blending humor, flirtation, and a hint of suspense with colorful urban backdrops, intimate close-ups, and a lighthearted storyline, the visuals bring the song’s cheeky and romantic spirit to life.“‘Casanova is a playful record but it’s also about that moment when someone catches you off guard” says Mr Eazi, who previously tapped Falomo to direct his “Patek” (2022) and “E Be Mad” (2021) videos. “I wanted the video to feel like a little movie with twists, laughs, and energy. Barcelona gave us the perfect mix of romance and chaos, and Demola captured that perfectly.”

“Casanova,” along with the rest of Eazi’s forthcoming Maison Rouge EP, was recorded in Cotonou, Benin, at the titular Hotel Maison Rouge, which became a creative oasis for Mr Eazi while working on his 2023 album slash art project, The Evil Genius.“Casanova” follows the July release of “Corny,” a mellow, emotionally honest love song which showcases Eazi’s signature blend of vulnerability and melody, and “Attention,” Eazi’s contribution to this summer’s blockbuster F1 movie soundtrack.

“Casanova” is OUT NOW on all DSPs and the vieo will be released today by 1 pm WAT on the below channel.

New Music Alert! Priscilla Nwachi Drops Powerful New Video for “You Are God.” A Song 15 Years in the Making

16 août 2025 à 17:50

Prophetic psalmist and worshipper Priscilla Nwachi has released her latest single, “You Are God”—an inspirational, spirit-breathed worship anthem written over 15 years ago and now released as the first single from her upcoming debut EP.

“You Are God” marks a significant shift in Priscilla’s journey as a worshipper and minister rooted in healing, surrender, and prophetic worship.

The inspiration for the song came to Priscilla in an ordinary moment while she was taking a shower. She recalls hearing the words clearly:

You are the Lord God Jehovah. You died on the cross for my sins. You have forgiven my iniquities. You are God.

I knew this song was from heaven, says Priscilla. I didn’t release it back then, but God kept it in my spirit. Now, after a deep personal transformation, I’ve added to the song with new lyrics, worship elements, and even Igbo honoring my heritage and the depth of worship I now carry.

“You Are God” is part of Priscilla’s debut EP, a collection of four songs, two written many years ago, and two composed in recent seasons of consecration. Together, they represent her true calling and sound as a prophetic psalmist.

As a worshipper, I don’t perform, I minister, Priscilla shares. My mission is to speak and sing about life, truth, and healing. This song is a declaration of who God is and a reminder that He is faithful through every season.

Juno Award-winning Afro-Soul artist Osé will release her latest single, “24 Hours”, on Friday, Aug. 8. Known for her emotionally resonant songwriting and genre-blending sound, Osé continues to build momentum with this highly anticipated release.

Born in Nigeria and raised in Toronto, Osé brings a global sensibility to her music, blending Afrobeat rhythms with soulful melodies. Her previous singles, including “Makaveli” and “JJC”, have earned millions of streams and positioned her as one of the most exciting emerging voices in the genre. With co-signs from H.E.R., SZA and Timbaland, and standout performances at AfroPunk Fest and Sony Hall in New York, Osé has established herself as a rising international artist. Her work has been spotlighted across digital platforms and continues to resonate with audiences around the world.

Osé has steadily gained a following in key markets such as London, Lagos, Accra, and several cities across Asia. Her blend of African roots and contemporary soul has connected with audiences well beyond North America.“24 Hours”, she says, was written during a time of personal reflection and inner shift.

I wrote this song about three years ago when I was in this headspace of trying to appreciate life more and just slow down, Osé said. A lot of uncertainty had presented itself at the time. I always felt like I was behind, or like I had to rush myself to reach my full potential before it was ‘too late’.

Creating this song became my gentle reminder that you can’t rush life, greatness or feelings. Everything happens in God’s timing. Slowing down makes you more intentional, and that is exactly what ‘24 Hours’ is about.

Nigerian singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as Mr May D, is trending on social media following a heated exchange that started after his recent performance at an event in Lagos.

May D, alongside street-pop act Small Doctor, performed at the Huspuppi Cup opening ceremony held in the Oworoshoki area of Lagos. However, clips of May D performing in front of a street crowd quickly made the rounds online, sparking mixed reactions.

Tufab, a close associate of Wizkid, fueled the drama with a mocking tweet that read: “For May D mind he dey perform for 02 Arena. Sold Out.” Though the post was later deleted, it had already stirred backlash.

Popular DJ Neptune came to May D’s defense, criticizing Tufab for belittling an artist earning a living through his craft. “Your fellow man is hustling legally for his daily bread with his God-given talent, and this is what you have to say? Everything shouldn’t be for cruise. E red today, no mean say e no go green tomorrow. SMH,” he tweeted.

— DJ Neptune #GreatnessIII (@deejayneptune) September 16, 2025

Rapper Skales also weighed in, dragging Tufab for trolling artists online. He described him as “an old man, probably almost 40, who has no real job but spends time insulting people like he’s in his early 20s.”

Tufab is an old man prolly almost 40 that comes online to troll nighas but has no real job with his ugly scar face … what he does online is what someone that’s in their early 20’s do .. ass kisser .. beggy beggy … insulting artiste as if you have achieved anything for yourself…

— SKALES (@youngskales) September 17, 2025

The back-and-forth didn’t stop there, as Tufab clapped back at Skales, further fueling the online chaos.

— Dr Fab (@Tufab) September 17, 2025

Meanwhile, Mr May D himself broke his silence through an Instagram Story, defending his Lagos street audience. “Those guys are human too, you all should shut up,” he wrote, addressing those mocking his performance.

The incident has since divided opinions online, with some fans praising May D for staying grounded and performing anywhere he’s called, while others debate whether the trolling crossed the line. Fans praised the performance of May D at the Lagos event.

Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has sent out a powerful message to his followers, calling on them to break free from cycles of negative self-talk shaped by childhood experiences.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the Akpako Master addressed critics who often flood his comment section with discouraging remarks. According to him, those words are less about personal opinion and more about deep-rooted conditioning from upbringing.

“Our Nigerian parents really do many of us strong thing,” Terry G began. He explained that when people say things like “you’ll never make it” or “you can’t do this,” they’re often repeating the same discouraging words they grew up hearing at home.

He added that such ingrained negativity is why many people remain stuck in failure as adults. “It’s time to break that cycle. It’s time to change that mindset,” he urged.

Terry G’s message struck a chord as both a reality check and a call to self-awareness. Beyond his energetic performances and street-pop anthems, the singer has shown a growing interest in inspiring fans to confront personal struggles and pursue positive change.

Though he has kept much of his private life away from the spotlight in recent years, Terry G continues to stay active musically, collaborating with emerging talents and experimenting with new sounds. While fans wait for his next release, his recent words serve as a timely reminder that personal transformation begins with shifting one’s mindset.

I’ve been all over the world, spreading the gospel of the machine. From Yaounde, Cameroon, to Stockholm, Sweden. From Unilag to Seattle. AbuaD to Paris. Stages to schools. Another number one mixtape. Another number one single. Bagged 2 more Headies Awards. All of this is possible through the grace of God & all of your support. Thank you for the patience,” he wrote.

He ended the message with the big reveal: “I am happy to announce that on September 19th, you will see the first look of the machine. They cannot stop us. The machine is finally here.”

This latest update comes after months of speculation about the project. Earlier this year, Odumodublvck dropped The Machine Is Coming, a mixtape that built momentum for the new release. His breakthrough 2023 project, Eziokwu, earned him widespread recognition and two Headies awards, cementing his place as one of Nigeria’s most exciting rap voices.

The new album is expected to feature collaborations with global stars including Davido, Skepta, and Stormzy, details that have only heightened fans’ anticipation.

With just two days until the first glimpse, excitement is at an all-time high. For Odumodublvck, who has spent the year moving from local stages to international arenas, The Machine Is Here marks the next step in his fast-rising career.
