If you have been jamming to “Dai Dai” by Shakira and Burna Boy since it dropped on 15 May — and if you have watched the music video featuring Uganda’s Ghetto Kids — then we have some very good news for you. That song is just one piece of a much bigger project, and Nigeria did not stop at one feature. The Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album drops tomorrow, 5 June, and it turns out four Nigerian artists made the cut on what FIFA has described as the most extensive multi-track music initiative ever created for a World Cup.

Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai” with Shakira serves as the official song of the tournament and the theme for the FIFA Education Fund, with songwriting credits that include Ed Sheeran among others. Rema follows with “Goals,” a collaboration with Thai rapper and singer Lisa and Brazilian singer Anitta that brings Afrobeats, K-pop, and Latin pop together on one track — released on 21 May and already doing numbers. Davido features on “No Place Like Home” alongside electronic music collective Major Lazer and Canadian pop icon Nelly Furtado, while Ayra Starr rounds off Nigeria’s representation with “Show Me,” alongside American rapper Latto.

The album’s full 18-track lineup also features the likes of Future and Tyla, Stormzy, The Rolling Stones, Daddy Yankee, and 21 Savage.

The Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album is available to pre-save now across all major streaming platforms and releases in full tomorrow, 5 June 2026. Set your reminders.

Davido’s 5IVE Alive Tour Look in Guinea Has Us Zooming Into Every Detail

We are not jealous of the people of Guinea today. Cough cough. Not only did they get to watch Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido perform live on his 5IVE Alive Tour, but they also got to see this outfit up close, and that, might be the bigger flex.

For his 5IVE Alive Tour stop in Conakry, Guinea, Davido stepped out in a dark navy double-breasted pinstripe suit covered in subtle golden speckles that caught every stage light going. The jacket featured a layered lapel combining a classic pinstripe fold with an inner geometric black-and-white checkered pattern, and the lower patch pockets came framed in light blue trim with white graphic silhouettes of human figures printed on them. It is the kind of detailing that rewards a second look.

He paired it with matching wide-leg pinstripe trousers breaking cleanly over a pair of white sneakers, a light blue collared undershirt, tinted sunglasses, a structured blue patterned traditional cap, and a silver luxury watch on the wrist.

The whole look sits somewhere between sharp tailoring and a cultural nod, and it works completely. The traditional cap alongside the wide-leg trousers and white sneakers is what ties it together — dressed up enough for the stage, relaxed enough to remind you this is still OBO. Whoever put this look together deserves their flowers.

Guinea got a show and a fashion moment. We are not jealous. We are absolutely not jealous.

Do you know Angélique Kidjo and Ayra Starr have been cooking something in the studio? Don’t worry, this Friday, you get to feast on a single from the duo. Now, the secret is officially out.

The five-time Grammy Award winner has confirmed that Ayra Starr is the special guest on her upcoming single, “Aye Kan (Are You Coming Back?)”. She shared the news on social media alongside a glimpse into their studio session, adding that they had “so much fun” putting the track together. From the dancing in the video, it’s easy to see what she means.

This collaboration has been a long time coming. The two first set the internet buzzing earlier this year when they met at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles. Seeing the Beninese legend and the Nigerian star share a moment on the red carpet, with Ayra in a champagne corset gown, had many hoping for a musical link-up. It turns out they got to work not long after.

For Ayra Starr, this is another big moment in a busy year. She is still riding the wave of her latest single, “Where Do We Go,” and a collaboration with a global icon like Kidjo further reinforces her place as one of the continent’s most exciting voices.

As for the “Queen of African Music,” this release sets the tone for what’s ahead. The single leads into Angélique’s highly anticipated 19th studio album, “Hope!!,” arriving on 24 April. The project also features names like Davido and The Cavemen, making it one to look out for.

Mark your calendars for Friday, 27 March. Something tells us this one will be on repeat for a while.

This Link-Up Needs to Happen — Davido Talks Rema

Davido has revealed that Rema is one of the artists he’s yet to collaborate with—but definitely wants to.

Speaking in an interview with Interview Magazine, the Afrobeats star was asked about potential future link-ups. His response was direct and telling:

“ I haven’t worked with Rema. I feel like we’d bang out something crazy.”

It’s a collaboration many fans have quietly anticipated. Both artists operate at the top level of the industry, each with a distinct sound—Davido’s energetic, hit-driven style and Rema’s genre-blending, experimental approach.

A link-up between the two wouldn’t just be big—it would be impactful. It brings together different generations and sonic styles within Afrobeats, creating the kind of crossover moment that could easily dominate charts and conversations.

For now, it remains an idea—but one that already feels like a matter of time.

Davido, Ayra Starr & The Cavemen Join Angélique Kidjo on Upcoming Album “Hope!!”

If there is one artist who has spent decades proving that African music belongs everywhere, on every stage, in every conversation, it is Angélique Kidjo. And she is not slowing down. The legendary Beninese singer has just announced her 19th studio album, “Hope!!,” arriving on 24th April 2026, and from what we already know about it, the continent has every reason to be excited.

This is a 14-track album five years in the making, dedicated to Kidjo’s late mother Yvonne, who she described as a lasting source of optimism and courage. That dedication is not just sentimental. It carries all the way through to the closing track, a version of Malaika, a song her mother loved.

The album features Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Quavo, Charlie Wilson, Fally Ipupa, Diamond Platnumz, PJ Morton, IZA, Florent Pagny, Dadju and the Soweto Gospel Choir, alongside Nigerian acts Davido, Ayra Starr and The Cavemen. Pharrell also produced three tracks for the album in Paris.

The presence of Davido, Ayra Starr and The Cavemen on this project is worth noting. Kidjo and Davido are no strangers to each other — the two have previously collaborated on “Na Money” and “Joy.” Seeing them reunite on “Hope!!” adds another chapter to a working relationship that has already produced two songs together.

Ayra Starr in a bronze off-the-shoulder gown posing with five-time Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo, who is wearing a grey blazer and red headwrap, at the 2026 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles.

The first single, “Fall on Me,” features PJ Morton and gives an early sense of the album’s tone, shaped by themes of joy, strength and perseverance. Kidjo has said she poured her whole heart into this project, and with a feature list that bridges continents, generations and genres, it shows.

“Hope!!” follows her 2021 album “Mother Nature,” which won a Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album

Spotify Confirms Asake, Wizkid, Seyi Vibez, Burna Boy & Davido as Nigeria’s Most Streamed Artists

Spotify has turned five in Nigeria and to mark the milestone, the streaming giant just dropped some numbers that are going to make every Nigerian music lover very proud.

The platform launched in Nigeria in February 2021, and the very first song a Nigerian user streamed was, interestingly, not an Afrobeats track. It was Shiga Lin‘s Cantopop ballad from Hong Kong, which Spotify described as “a fitting start for what the next five years would look like: borderless, discovery-driven listening.” Five years later, the data tells a story that is hard to argue with.

Nigerian users have created more than 25 million playlists since launch, and in 2025 alone they clocked more than 1.4 billion hours of listening time. The average Nigerian listener on the platform is just 26 years old, and listening has grown by over 163 percent year on year since 2021. The number of Nigerian artists on Spotify is also up 158 percent since launch, meaning more creators are reaching audiences at home and around the world than ever before.

Now to the part everyone wants to know. The five most streamed artists in Nigeria over the past five years are Asake, Wizkid, Seyi Vibez, Burna Boy, and Davido. Asake’s position at the top is backed by serious numbers. Spotify notes that he has four of the top ten most streamed songs in Nigeria over the five year period, with his track “Remember” sitting at number one.

Afrobeats is the genre driving most of this growth, scaling by a staggering 5,022 percent since 2021. But Nigerian listeners are not stopping there. Amapiano has grown by 10,330 percent, gospel and praise music by 5,499 percent, hip-hop and rap by 3,020 percent, and R&B by 2,602 percent. Perhaps the most telling figure of all is that streams of music in Nigerian indigenous languages grew by 554 percent in 2024 alone, which Spotify says shows “a deep connection to local-language storytelling.”

Podcasts are also finding a serious audience. Nigerians have streamed almost 60 million hours of podcast content since Spotify launched, confirming that the appetite for audio in Nigeria goes well beyond music.

Five years in, and Nigeria is one of the most passionate listening audiences on the platform.

Burna Boy, Davido, Tyla, Ayra Starr & Eddy Kenzo: Meet the 2026 Grammy Best African Music Contenders

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards are officially around the corner, and for us in the motherland, Sunday, 1st February 2026, is the only date that matters. While the world watches the “Big Four,” we have our eyes firmly fixed on the Best African Music Performance category. It is more than just an award; it is a celebration of the sounds that have moved from our local streets to the global stage.

This year’s “Big 5” contenders are a perfect mix of seasoned giants and the “new school” leaders who are currently holding the world in a chokehold. Here is everything you need to know about the songs and the stars vying for that golden gramophone.

Gimme Dat – Ayra Starr Featuring Wizkid

The “Celestial Being” and the “Starboy” teamed up once again for “Gimme Dat,” and the results were pure magic. Released on 25th April 2025, the song samples the iconic “911” by Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige, blending jazzy reggae beats with sultry Afrobeats rhythms. It’s a confident, sensual track where Ayra lists exactly what she needs in a lover—peace of mind and 100% commitment—while Wizkid delivers a breezy, seasoned verse.

Ayra Starr’s journey has been nothing short of meteoric; after becoming the youngest Nigerian artist nominated for a Grammy last year, she returns with even more momentum. Wizkid, a Grammy winner himself for his contribution to Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl,” brings that veteran “Big Wiz” aura to the track, making this collaboration a formidable contender.

Love – Burna Boy

The “City Boy” himself is back in the Grammy conversation with “Love,” a standout track from his eighth studio album, “No Sign of Weakness,” released on 10th July 2025. Produced by Dre Skull, the song is a beautiful, introspective Afro-fusion piece that explores themes of loyalty, self-protection, and genuine devotion. It’s Burna Boy at his most vulnerable, trading his usual high-energy “pon di beats” for a mid-tempo, soulful reflection on who truly stands by you when the lights go out.

Burna is no stranger to the Recording Academy; this nomination brings his career total to a staggering 13 nods over seven consecutive years. Having already won Best Global Music Album in 2021 for “Twice as Tall,” he enters this race as a heavyweight veteran.

With You – Davido Featuring Omah Lay

Released on 18th April 2025 as a highlight of Davido’s fifth studio album, “5ive,” the track is a masterclass in modern Highlife. Inspired by Bright Chimezie’s 1984 hit “Because of English,” the song features a repeating guitar loop and an easy, flirtatious charm that is hard to resist. Davido actually considered scrapping the song initially, but we are so glad he didn’t.

Omah Lay’s aching delivery pairs perfectly with Davido’s tender performance, making this a fan favourite. The nomination builds on Davido’s growing Grammy momentum after his historic three-nomination run last year, while for Omah Lay, it’s another well-earned nod that reinforces his place as one of the genre’s most distinctive voices.

PUSH 2 START – Tyla

After making history as the inaugural winner of this category 2024 with “Water,” South African sensation Tyla is looking for a back-to-back victory with “PUSH 2 START.”

Released on 11th October 2024 as part of her TYLA + deluxe album, the song uses car metaphors to navigate the thrills of attraction and commitment. It’s a flawless blend of Amapiano, Pop, and R&B that has already dominated the Billboard and UK Afrobeats charts.

Eddy Kenzo & Mehran Matin – Hope & Love

Adding a unique, cross-cultural flavour to the category is “Hope & Love,” a collaboration between Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Iranian artist Mehran Matin. Released on 13th August 2025, the song is an uplifting Afrobeat anthem designed to unite hearts across borders. Featuring the joyful energy of the Masaka Kids Africana, the track is a reminder that music is a universal language that shines brightest in the darkness.

Eddy Kenzo remains a pioneer for East African music on the global stage. This isn’t his first rodeo; he made history in 2023 as the first Ugandan artist to be nominated for a Grammy. His return to the category with Mehran Matin shows that his mission to “spread love” through music is far from over.

Did You Know?

The Best African Music Performance category is relatively new. It was created in June 2023 and first awarded in 2024 to recognise recordings that utilise unique local expressions from across the continent. The Recording Academy established this dedicated space to acknowledge the massive global impact of genres like Afrobeats, Amapiano, Highlife, and Bongo Flava.

Coachella has announced its 2026 lineup, and as always, the California festival is set to be one of the biggest musical gatherings of the year. Headliners Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G, and Anyma will lead two weekends of performances, running from April 10–12 and April 17–19 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Among the global mix of artists, Nigerian superstar Davido is featured as the only Nigerian act on the bill. He will perform on both Saturdays, April 11 and 18, marking his first-ever Coachella appearance.

The 2026 lineup also includes names like The Strokes, Iggy Pop, Nine Inch Nails (with Boys Noize), and FKA twigs, alongside British Kenyan singer PinkPantheress and British Nigerian rapper Little Simz, who will perform on Sundays, April 12 and 19.

African and diaspora artists have steadily carved out a space at Coachella in recent years. This year, Tyla, Amaarae, and Seun Kuti brought their sounds to the festival, and next year’s lineup continues that momentum. With Davido, Little Simz, and PinkPantheress all on the stage, African talent will once again have a visible presence at the world’s most-watched music festival.

Davido Just Dropped the Hottest Visual Tribute to Curvy Queens in “10 Kilo”

Davido has unveiled the visuals for “10 Kilo”, a track from his April album “5IVE” — and it’s every bit as playful, stylish, and bold as the music.

“Ọrọbọ ten kilo” is Davido’s affectionate nod to a voluptuous, stunning woman, and the music video, directed by Director Pink, brings that vision to the screen. It opens with beautiful, curvy women taking centre stage, strutting down what feels like their own runway. Camera flashes pop, fabrics flow, and every step showcases their style and confidence, all while Davido’s lyrics offer unfiltered praise.

The song is an Afrobeats ode to being completely captivated by someone. The kind of attraction that makes concentration impossible, loosens the purse strings, and inspires unapologetic devotion. With its vibrant look, fashion-forward moments, and Davido’s signature charm, “10 Kilo” manages to feel like both a celebration and a confession.

Davido and Director Pink have crafted a visual that makes admiration impossible to miss.

Davido Showed Up in Style for His Brooklyn 5IVE Tour | See the Looks

Phot Credit: Davido/Instagram

Davido had more than just a good time in Brooklyn during the latest stop on his 5IVE Tour. He made it a night to remember, and the photos say it all.

He wasn’t alone either. The crowd got a surprise when American rapper and actor Fat Joe joined him on stage, followed by Victony. Backstage, Davido was seen with Ciara, who has been embracing her recent Beninese citizenship and celebrating the culture with real joy.

From performing “With You“, one of the highlights from his 5IVE album, to a string of fan favourites, Davido gave a full-on performance. The audience responded in kind, singing along and dancing through the night. It was a celebration of music, connection and the kind of live show that reminds you why concerts matter.

Now, let’s talk about what he wore. For the night, Davido stepped out in a rich golden-brown oversized fur coat that set the tone for his entrance. It was bold and unmistakably stylish. He layered it over a plain white T-shirt, keeping the rest of the look grounded and casual.

His choice of accessories added a sharp edge to the look. A chunky gold chain, dark designer sunglasses and a pair of jeans with a belt embellished with colourful stones gave it a flash of personality.

“Brooklyn set the bar! Memories made,” Davido wrote in his caption after the show. Next stop is Boston.

Odumodublvck set to unveil first look of 'The Machine Is Here'

Nigerian rap star Odumodublvck has confirmed that fans will finally get their first official look at his highly anticipated project, The Machine Is Here, this Friday, September 19, 2025.

The rapper, also known as Big Kala, made the announcement on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, through a personal letter and a press release he shared on X (formerly Twitter). The post, titled "A Letter from Kala – Industry Machine", carried both his reflections on the past year and an official statement from his labels, NATIVE Records and Def Jam Recordings.

In the heartfelt letter, Odumodublvck looked back on a whirlwind 12 months of touring, success, and awards. “What a year it has been. I’ve been all over the world, spreading the gospel of the machine. From Yaounde, Cameroon, to Stockholm, Sweden. From Unilag to Seattle. AbuaD to Paris. Stages to schools. Another number one mixtape. Another number one single. Bagged 2 more Headies Awards. All of this is possible through the grace of God & all of your support. Thank you for the patience,” he wrote.

He ended the message with the big reveal: “I am happy to announce that on September 19th, you will see the first look of the machine. They cannot stop us. The machine is finally here.”

This latest update comes after months of speculation about the project. Earlier this year, Odumodublvck dropped The Machine Is Coming, a mixtape that built momentum for the new release. His breakthrough 2023 project, Eziokwu, earned him widespread recognition and two Headies awards, cementing his place as one of Nigeria’s most exciting rap voices.

The new album is expected to feature collaborations with global stars including Davido, Skepta, and Stormzy, details that have only heightened fans’ anticipation.

With just two days until the first glimpse, excitement is at an all-time high. For Odumodublvck, who has spent the year moving from local stages to international arenas, The Machine Is Here marks the next step in his fast-rising career.
