A Detty December to Remember: Recapping The Foodie In Lagos Festival

7 février 2026 à 09:11

Lagos’ food and lifestyle scene came alive on December 17 and 18, 2025, as thousands of guests gathered for the Foodie in Lagos Festival. A two-day celebration of food, drinks, music, and family-friendly experiences. Curated by Foodie in Lagos, the festival brought together 53 carefully selected vendors spanning food, lifestyle, and creative brands, alongside families and creators, for an immersive end-of-year experience that captured the true spirit of Detty December.

Hosted in a vibrant open-air setting at Encourage Park, Ikoyi, the festival transformed the venue into a bustling hub of flavour, colour, and sound — offering guests the opportunity to eat, explore, shop, connect, and unwind. Over the course of two days, the festival welcomed over 3,000 attendees, underscoring its growing status as a key fixture on Lagos’ Detty December lifestyle calendar.

Watch highlights from the Foodie in Lagos Festival below.

A Thoughtfully Curated Food Experience

At the heart of the festival was food and plenty of it. Across two days, the festival’s food vendors delivered a diverse range of offerings spanning Nigerian classics, grills, desserts, street food favourites, cocktails, and contemporary fusion dishes. From familiar crowd favourites to exciting new discoveries, attendees were spoilt for choice as they moved from stall to stall sampling flavours and discovering new brands.

The festival’s layout encouraged exploration, with clearly defined vendor zones and relaxed communal seating that made it easy for guests to enjoy meals with friends and family. Many vendors reported sell-outs across both days, reinforcing the festival’s reputation as a key platform for food businesses looking to connect directly with their audience.

More Than a Food Festival

While food was the star, the Foodie in Lagos Festival delivered much more than just great meals. Live DJ sets by DJ Slymn & Guest DJ Lolahstic kept the energy high throughout the day, while a DJ battle and artiste performances turned the evenings into a lively celebration. A live band performance added a soulful touch, giving guests moments to slow down, sing along, dance, and soak in the atmosphere. The Festival was anchored by Deji Osikoya on Day One, with MC Obinna taking over hosting duties on Day Two, while Oludamee hosted the festival’s red carpet — ensuring seamless flow, high energy, and engaging moments throughout the event on both days.

Interactive brand activations dotted the venue, creating engaging experiences that blended seamlessly into the festival environment. From kids’ play areas and game zones to experiential brand spaces and garden-style seating, brands connected meaningfully with guests without disrupting the flow of the event.

Family-Friendly Fun at the Christmas Village

One of the standout attractions was the Christmas Village, curated in partnership with Tinsel Town and thoughtfully integrated into the festival experience. Designed with families in mind, the village offered a range of festive and creative activities for children, making the festival a truly inclusive event.

Young guests enjoyed bead-making workshops, cookie decorating classes, a Santa Grotto experience, and performances at the Elf Play House Theatre. Pamper sessions by Dermaspace added a gentle wellness element, ensuring both kids and parents could relax and enjoy the moment.

The Christmas Village reflected the festival’s commitment to creating a space where families could participate fully, rather than feeling like an afterthought.

Powered by Strong Brand Partnerships

The Foodie in Lagos Festival was supported by a strong lineup of partners who helped elevate the overall experience. Sponsors including Jameson, Flutterwave, Desperados, Mich & Kay, Nestlé Pure Life, Lagos State Parks & Gardens Agency (LASPARK), Page Asset Management Limited, Luxe Bounce, and 88 Games contributed to the seamless execution of the event.

Media partners BellaNaija, Olori Supergal, and My Lagos App helped amplify the festival’s reach, ensuring moments from the event travelled far beyond the venue.

A Defining Moment for Foodie in Lagos

For Foodie in Lagos, the festival marked a defining milestone, translating over a decade of digital food storytelling into a shared, real-world experience. Founded in 2013, Foodie in Lagos has grown into one of the city’s most trusted voices in food and lifestyle, consistently shaping conversations around where and how Lagos eats.

As the platform’s second festival, the Foodie in Lagos Festival reflected both the depth of its community and the strength of the trust it has built with audiences, vendors, and brands over the years. What began as an online dining guide has evolved into a platform capable of curating large-scale, community-driven experiences that celebrate Lagos’ ever-evolving food culture.

Held on December 17 and 18, 2025, the Foodie in Lagos Festival firmly established itself as a standout on Lagos’ Detty December calendar. Its inclusion in CNN’s 2025 Detty December line-up further underscored the festival’s growing cultural relevance, placing it among the season’s most anticipated food and lifestyle events.

If you missed out on the experience, highlights from the Foodie in Lagos Festival are available to view across Foodie in Lagos’ digital platforms.

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards are almost here, and if you are anything like us, your group chats are already buzzing with predictions. It is officially that time of year when we stay up into the early hours of Monday morning, fueled by caffeine and pure patriotism, to see our favourites take home the gold. This year’s ceremony is particularly special for the continent, as the Best African Music Performance category returns for its third year, proving that the world is well and truly listening to our sound.

This year, the ceremony returns to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, 1 February 2026. Taking the stage as our host for the sixth and final time is the brilliant Trevor Noah. Knowing this is his farewell hosting gig, we are expecting plenty of laughs, heart, and perhaps a few surprises before he takes his final bow.

For the Nigerian and African audience, the stakes are incredibly high. The Best African Music Performance category is packed with talent, featuring Burna Boy (“Love”), Davido featuring Omah Lay (“With You”), Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid (“Gimme Dat”), South Africa’s Tyla (“PUSH 2 START”), and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo (“Hope & Love”). Additionally, Burna Boy is eyeing more gold with a nomination for Best Global Music Album for “No Sign of Weakness.”

Who’s On Stage?

This year’s performance roster is a mix of pop icons and groundbreaking collaborations. Lady Gaga, nominated for seven awards including Album of the Year for MAYHEM, leads the charge alongside Justin Bieber, who makes his highly anticipated return to the Grammy stage after four years.

Fans can also look forward to sets from Sabrina Carpenter, Tyler, the Creator, Rosé, and a special joint performance by Clipse and Pharrell Williams. Keeping with tradition, all eight Best New Artist nominees—including Addison Rae, KATSEYE, and Leon Thomas—will deliver a high-energy medley. The night will also feature heavy-hitting tributes, including Ms. Lauryn Hill honouring D’Angelo and Roberta Flack, and a rock salute to Ozzy Osbourne featuring Post Malone, Slash, and Chad Smith.

The star power extends to the presenters, with a massive lineup including Harry Styles, Charli xcx, Chappell Roan, Queen Latifah, Teyana Taylor, and Jeff Goldblum

When and Where to Watch

The main ceremony kicks off at 02:00 WAT on Monday, 2 February. For the night owls and dedicated fans, the Grammy Premiere Ceremony—where many of the African categories are typically announced—starts earlier on Sunday at 21:30 WAT and can be streamed live on the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel or live.GRAMMY.com.

For the main event, DStv subscribers can tune in to 1Magic (Channel 103) or M-Net (Channel 101) for the live broadcast. If you prefer streaming, Paramount+ will be showing the ceremony live (Premium subscribers), and you can always follow the real-time updates and “Best Dressed” galleries right here on BellaNaija.

Lagos Rocks didn’t just kick off Detty December, it set the tone!

What began as a bold vision by Clout Africa, came to life as an electrifying cultural experience that brought together music, youth culture, celebrity energy, and the unmistakable spirit of Lagos. From the moment the doors opened, Lagos Rocks confirmed its place as the *official Detty December starter*, delivering an unforgettable night of sound, style, and celebration.

“As Nigeria’s leading creative hub for music, media, experiential events, and talent development, Clout Africa once again proved its ability to turn culture into moments that matter. Lagos Rocks was more than an event, it was a statement of intent: African creativity, done at the highest level,” said Joseph Adamu, COO Clout Africa.

A Night Powered by Music and Pure Energy

The stage came alive with thrilling performances from some of the most exciting names shaping the sound of now and next. Zinoleesky as the Show’s headliner, delivered a standout performance that sent the crowd into a frenzy, reminding everyone why he remains one of the most influential voices of his generation.

The energy level was high, due to preceding performances from Ashidapo, Oberz, Lovn, Noon Dave, Cupid SZN, Little Zino and a wave of rising artists who brought raw talent, passion, and originality to the Lagos Rocks stage. Each act added its own flavor, creating a seamless blend of established stars and emerging voices, a core part of Clout Africa’s mission to spotlight African talent.

DJs, Vibes, and Non-Stop Movement

Sound curation was nothing short of elite. With a powerhouse DJ lineup including DJ Salt, DJ 808, DJ Rosco, DJ Keywe, DJ KO, DJ Tim Westwood, the atmosphere never dipped. From Afrobeats to global club anthems, every set kept the crowd moving and the energy sky-high from start to finish.

Culture, Community, and Star Power

Beyond the music, Lagos Rocks embraced the full spectrum of entertainment culture. The event saw special appearances from Big Brother Naija reality stars Rooboy and Doris, adding celebrity excitement and fan engagement to the night.

The presence of Clout Band, alongside a vibrant mix of creators, tastemakers, and up-and-coming artists, reinforced what Lagos Rocks truly represents – a *community-driven movement* where creativity, collaboration, and culture intersect.

In partnership with Action Bitters, Lagos Rocks officially ushered in the season’s “Oblee” energy, giving Lagos its first real taste of Detty December magic. It was a night where people connected, celebrated, and experienced Lagos in its purest form – bold, loud, creative, and unstoppable.

From the music to the crowd, from the performances to the atmosphere, Lagos Rocks captured the essence of what Detty December is meant to be.

This wasn’t just an event.

It was a moment.

A movement.

A reminder that Clout Africa sets the pace.

Adekunle Gold marked a historic milestone in Nigerian cultural history as the first artist to headline the newly renovated Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts (National Theatre Nigeria), Lagos, delivering a sold-out orchestral concert alongside the MUSON Orchestra and his band, The 79th Element.

Selling out within five days of announcement, the concert was both a testament to Adekunle Gold’s cultural stature and a powerful reintroduction of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts (National Theatre) as a home for ambitious, world-class artistic expression. The evening unfolded as a masterful fusion of heritage and innovation, redefining what is possible for live music performances in Nigeria.

Across the night, Adekunle Gold performed selections from his critically acclaimed album Fuji, alongside defining works from his decade-long catalogue, all reimagined through sweeping orchestral arrangements, live instrumentation, and cinematic stage design. Fan favourites were transformed into grand, emotive compositions that elevated the audience experience, blurring the lines between popular music, classical performance, and theatrical storytelling.

Opening the National Theatre after its long-anticipated restoration places Adekunle Gold in direct lineage with the iconic artists who have shaped the venue’s legacy, while simultaneously ushering it into a new era. The performance represented a rare convergence of scale, symbolism, and sound, a moment never before witnessed on the Theatre’s stage.
Social media lit up throughout the night, with fans, critics, and industry figures describing the concert as “generational,” “historic,” and “a turning point for Nigerian live music.” Many hailed the show as proof that Nigerian artists can mount productions that rival the finest concert experiences anywhere in the world.

The Lagos performance follows Adekunle Gold’s trailblazing orchestral debut at the EFG London Jazz Festival on November 23, 2025, where he made history as the first Nigerian artist to headline an orchestral show at London’s Royal Festival Hall. That sold-out performance closed the festival and saw him collaborate with the Guildhall Session Orchestra, earning critical acclaim for its rich, genre-defying reinterpretations of fan favourites such as “Sade” and “Many People,” alongside selections from Fuji.

Together, the London and Lagos performances firmly establish Adekunle Gold as a defining artist of his generation, one who continues to expand the global perception of Nigerian music while honouring its roots. With this orchestral series, he has not only raised the bar for live performance but set a new benchmark for cultural ambition, artistic excellence, and global relevance.

Surprise Performances by Tems and Odumodu Blvck Light Up Palmwine Music Festival Lagos

27 décembre 2025 à 13:30

Legend Extra Stout partnered with Palmwine Music Festival this December to deliver two nights of carefully curated live music across Abuja and Lagos. Both cities delivered memorable performances, but the Lagos edition added a layer of unpredictability when Tems and Odumodu Blvck made unannounced appearances.

The festival moved through two cities, starting in Abuja on December 12 at Jabi Boat Club before heading to Lagos on December 21 at The Fidelity Ground in Oniru. Across both nights, Legend Extra Stout’s signature was evident – bold, unapologetic and rooted in the culture it celebrates.

Abuja set the tone with performances from Ladipoe, BOJ, Ajebutter and Moelogo, among others. The night leaned into intimacy, with relaxed, assured sets that allowed the music to breathe. Legend Extra Stout flowed naturally through the evening, from backstage moments to shared conversations in the crowd, reinforcing the festival’s unhurried, communal atmosphere.

By the time the festival reached Lagos a week later, anticipation had built. The Fidelity Ground became a hub for Nigeria’s alternative music community, powered by Legend Extra Stout, hosting performances from Show Dem Camp, BOJ, Ladipoe, Tay Iwar, Lady Donli, Prettyboy D-O, Moonchild Sanelly and others. Each act brought a distinct energy, with performances unfolding seamlessly and the crowd responding in kind.

Midway through the night, the momentum shifted. As Show Dem Camp settled into their set, Tems stepped onto the stage without introduction. The response was instant – a surge of excitement that marked one of the festival’s defining moments. The night pushed further as Odumodu Blvck followed, another surprise that sent energy through the crowd and kept the atmosphere escalating.

Palmwine Music Festival occupies a distinct space within Nigeria’s live music circuit, spotlighting artists and sounds just outside the mainstream while shaping contemporary culture. The Abuja and Lagos editions proved the strength of that approach through strong line-ups, intimate environments and well-timed spontaneity. The takeaway was clear: Palmwine Fest is less about spectacle and more about experience. Legend Extra Stout’s partnership across both cities reflected a natural alignment with a festival built on authenticity, creative expression and cultural connection.

NYC's Colbo, Coming Soon and More Lead a Spritz-Inspired Pop-Up This Weekend

For one weekend this June, downtown Manhattan is getting a distinctly Italian refresh. On June 14–15, a two-day cultural takeover called Campari Spritz Square will bring aperitivo vibes to the heart of Chinatown and the Lower East Side. Inspired by the classic Italian spritz, the event blends food, drink, and design into a lively streetside celebration of slower living—with a bitter twist.

The central gathering point is 171 E. Broadway, where guests can sip spritzes alongside small bites in a setting designed to evoke Milan’s early-evening energy. But the event isn’t confined to one location. Local spots like Susan Alexandra, Coming Soon, and Colbo are joining the effort, hosting collaborative pop-ups that combine fashion, art, and music—think DJ sets, aperitivo-themed shopping, and neighborhood-only exclusives.

While the spritz has become a familiar sight on menus across the U.S., this weekend offers something more immersive: a chance to experience aperitivo culture not as a trend, but as a ritual. The event draws on both tradition and creativity, weaving in the voices of local businesses and creatives to shape a more personal take on the Italian classic.

Reservations for the main experience are now open via Resy, with limited seatings available for guests 21 and up. Partner activations run from 3–7pm each day. Whether you’re a die-hard spritz drinker or just looking for a different kind of downtown weekend, this is shaping up to be a rare collision of good taste, good company, and great timing.

DISCLAIMER: We discourage irresponsible and/or underage drinking. Drink responsibly and legally.

Lagos is getting ready to light up as one of Nigeria’s biggest nights in music is just around the corner. The 17th edition of The Headies is happening on 27 April 2025, and yes, the stage is set for an unforgettable show.

The lineup is a solid mix of favourites and fresh faces. Chike is bringing his smooth, soulful vibes; Qing Madi is set to thrill with her Afro-R&B fusion; and Shallipopi is coming through with all the energy that’s made him a street-hop star. Add Nasboi, who’s got that perfect mix of music and humour, and Flavour, the king of highlife himself — and we’ve got a night to remember.

This edition of The Headies will spotlight the best of 2024’s music, celebrating the artists and sounds that defined the year. And guess what? There’s more. This is just the first. The 18th edition is also happening later in December. Two Headies in one year? We’re not complaining.

So, mark your calendars, the countdown to The Headies 2025 has officially begun.
